While WDT tools are fairly basic, I find I really like this one. It has a good weight to it, which is comfortable while using. It comes with an extra set of needles which is nice. Be careful with the needles, they are very sharp! I found this out the hard way after sticking myself. The holder opening is narrow and I have struggled at times to get the tool back in, but after using it for a few days this seems to have resolved itself. Definitely a tool that beginners and experts would appreciate.

I'm pretty new to espresso picking up what I can from my barista sister and one thing I needed was one of these. I didn't understand the basic concept but even for a little beginner like me thing thing works well, looks nice, sleek and cleans up pretty well. 🏎️ Quick Rec: It’s a buy 🤑 – If you are looking for a WDT tool, want a compact design, and the ability to customize pin placement, all at a low-mid range price, this is the tool for you. Bonus points if you are a chess enthusiast & like the rook design. 📄 Overview: For years I have been using a wine cork with 4 snipped paperclips stuck into it. I finally caved and decided to find a WDT tool that was compact enough to fit in a drawer at an affordable price. This tool can use up to 10 pins though you can customize how many or few you desire. 5 needles works best for me so far. This was an important factor to me so I could learn how many needles is best for my needs, as many other products on the market start with only 4 or 6 needles. I do wish the handle had some more weight to it as it is made of aluminum & I wish it screwed into the base to make handling the whole unit easier - I already dropped the base once while moving it all. Overall though, it definitely improved my coffee making – everyone says “grind finer” but I long suspected the channeling was from improper grind distribution. As a tip, I’d recommend adding half your grinds to your portafilter, using the WDT, adding the second half, then finishing off everything with the WDT tool to get everything smooth & properly distributed. I found that the most effective method. Also, kudos to the assembly method of this tool. It will make routine cleaning of the tool much easier as the handle & base can be unscrewed, maximizing cleaning. Lastly, I’m not a chess player but I don’t mind the design. The rook’s top actually fits in hand quite well. 🔢 My Scoring: Cleanliness 🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧 Price point 🪙🪙 Aesthetic ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Repairabillty 🪚🪚🪚🪚🪚 Utility 🦺🦺🦺🦺 🙂 Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✅ Pros ✅ - Easy to dissemble for cleaning - Compact, 4 inches tall & small counter footprint - Needles are right size, right flex - and comes with 10 extra needles - Needles are held in place well yet easy to replace & reconfigure - Lightweight build ❌ Cons ❌ - I wish the handle/lid screwed into place. Got this for a chess loving friend who didn't have a wdt and he really likes it. It works just as well as my wdt but it does feel a little bit higher quality.

This is a perfect little distributor for a beginner espresso maker, and the extra needles make sure you have some room for error, which in my case, is bound to happen. Also, I like the design; not only is it sturdy, but if you find your chess set is short a rook, you can substitute this!

The coffee Distribution feels good, the workmanship is fine, and the material is safe and reliable. The powder needle is made of stainless steel and is not afraid of rust (I tried it with a magnet and it will not stick to it). It has a compact appearance and a base. Regardless of whether it is a psychological effect or not, I feel that it is helpful after using it, especially when letting others experience making coffee. It can help to spread the powder and the coffee will be easily dispersed. It is very useful.
