I love the purple color. The overall quality of the product I found to be great, it definitely helps block out some of the hot Texas sun. For fitting it, I followed their instructional videos and had a helping hand. This is definitely not a one person job. I didn’t have to remove the back part of the roof just loosened it slightly. When putting the front part of the roof back on the bungees were in the way, so I got some of the adjustable bungee balls from Autozone (only about $6), then fitted them with the roof in place. A friend bought the Spider shade and highly recommended it so when I searched Amazon and came across the Alien shade with free 2 day shipping, and it appeared to be an identical product, I decided to go for it. A few of the negative reviews had me concerned, but I knew with Amazon's easy return policy it was worth a chance. I'm here to say this product is worth it and below I will offer up some installation tips and photos which should alleviate any concerns with respect to some other reviews. First, do as the instructions recommend and unfold it in the sun for half an hour or so. Place it on a sidewalk, driveway or patio for even xtra heat. This will soften up the material and partially smooth out the fold creases. Next, start at the back rather than the front as the instructions state. This allows a bit of give when stretching the bungees around the rear roll cage bars. Some reviewers stated they could barely stretch the bungee cords and one even mentioned his broke while installing the back. My guess is they did the back last and had no slack to play with. Installing the back first solves this issue. Make sure the bungee wraps around so that the ball is behind the seat belt guide assembly attached to the roll bar (see pic below). You will have to stretch the bungee pretty hard but it isn't impossible. After attaching both rear sides the shade will be pulled back too far but that will be corrected next. This next step is easiest with a second person helping. Pull the shade up and over the sound bar and towards the front visor area. Have your helper stand in the cargo bay and grab both sides of the shade that you just connected. He/she should pull it forward stretching those bungees and giving you some room to play with up front. Run a short bungee through the second eyelet from the edge. Pull, stretch and attach to the freedom panel "U" catch. Move to the other side and repeat same procedure. The middle portion has two eyelets close together. Choose the one that is closest to that "U" catch and use it. It will be off center but still works without causing any folds or awkward positioning of the shade. (pics) These front three are designed to be off center from the "U" catches. They allow you to attach the freedom panels while keeping the cords off to the side and out of the way. Next move your way around the Jeep and attach all the remaining bungees. They all go on tight but not difficult. Make sure you position all the balls in a manner that they are out of the way for visor operation and reinstalling hard/soft tops. Replacing Freedom panels. The two eyelets in the center of the shade lined up nearly perfect for the barrel bolts to pass through. Several reviewers complained about this, but I found it required very little fiddling to make it work. As for the flapping sound at higher speeds, if you encounter this the manufacture recommends buying small pieces of felt to stick on the sound bar and prevent that slapping sound. I haven't noticed any annoying flapping sounds, but if I do the fix is simple enough. Starting with the passenger panel you have to maneuver the front lever latch through the opening while pushing the bungee cord out of the way. The procedure is the same for the driver side and it does require some trial and error but they will go through and you can lock them in place. If need be you could also remove the three smaller bungees before replacing the panels and then reattach once complete. The locking mechanism appears to not interfere with the cords so I don't believe there will be any wear and tear to worry about. Just make sure the cords are out of the way before operating the lever. To operate the turn locks you can reach your hand in between the mesh and panel and simply turn them. They are all pretty easy with the exception of the center turn lever on the drivers side rear (located between driver and passenger). You will have to slide the panel in place as best you can and lower it as far as you can while still being able to reach your arm between the mesh and panel. All the while making sure the front lever mechanism is also sliding into place. Once you have it positioned properly you can reach in and push that center-middle turn lock in place . Then lower the whole thing and repeat locking down as you did on the passenger side. This all sounds rather complicated but it only took a few minutes once I figured the best way to go about it. All in all this was an easy install and it looks good. You won't even notice it's there standing at ground level. It is dense enough to block out the harsh, beating sun but still allows light and breeze through to the cabin. No rain test yet, but I imagine it will stop some drops from getting through though not all. Hard top and freedom panels all install without disconnecting any of the bungees. You may have to slide and maneuver some of the cords out of the way but it can be done. Simply put I overcame each of the few negative comments regarding this product. It's a nifty solution to going topless while Jeep'ing during the dog days of summer. Glad I got it. ... show more

I bought this product for my wife's 2018 Jeep Wrangler. When we bought her Jeep used, the previous owner had a full cover, that sagged in the back and drove my wife crazy! After hearing the BXXXING day in and day out, I bought this product for her 11 year anniversary. I must say, they claim the bungee cords are 4 times stronger. They better last 20 years or someone's eye is getting poked out, because they are a TIGHT FIT! Update as of September 2nd. After buying my wife's 2 peace for her Jeep in black, I bought a red one peace for my Jeep. DON'T BUY THE ONE PEACE!!! The red one only came in the one peace. It SUCKS! I'll sell it at yard sell, and I'm ordering another 2 peace in black for my Jeep! ... show more

I like the look, and after figuring out what the instructions meant to say, installation was pretty easy. The instructions say there are THREE short bungies that go in the front--there are actually FOUR that came with it (and four obvious front holes, two in the center--so it took a minute to sort that out. It also wasn't clear which way to insert the bungies, but after a few attempts (to get the ball on the inside as stated), it became obvious. Would have been smoother had the number of short bungies in the instructions been correct, and if they showed pictures making it clear the best way to insert them. Also, the two front side bungies can’t really go where they say, at least on my Jeep, or the shade gets all bunched-up on the edges. I needed to wrap them around me front corner “Jesus” straps (in a way that wouldn’t interfere with the movement of the two sun visors). My main concern is the center metal gromets--which are meant to have the freedom panel screws go through. They are a good inch off (too far forward) when installed as specified. But since the bungies stretch, I assume I'll be able to get them to move back enough to get the screws in once I get my hard top/freedom panels back (they are in the body shop, hence the need for some kind of cover). Will say this was one great purchase for summer heat. It really helped cool us down while being in direct sunlight. It was missing one of the holes for tying it down but we made it work. And we loved it! So that’s why it’s not at 5 stars.

Only issue I have is in order to have this stay on under the hard top I had to remove one of the front straps on each side and behind the visor and this causes it to sag pretty badly and looks pretty crappy. This was a huge thing for me.
