Usually, I start with the positive but I'll start with the negative first. It was a little aggravating and frustrating to put it together. I found the instructions a little useless so I had to try to youtube unboxing and setup. So I give it a 1 out of 5 stars on setup. Next, I bought the package with the drum seat and the headphones. Please take my advice and do not buy the drum seat and headphones, you can find something better or cheaper. The headphones are very cheap. Mine actually came with a plastic piece that was broke off. I decided to just live with it since it did not affect the headphones and I didnt want to pack up everything to send back. You probably can buy any headphones, even some cheap ear buds instead of these headphones. Not only are they cheaply made but they are not comfortable. The stool is ok, nothing special about it. I imagine you can find a better quality one for the same price or spend a few more dollars. Now to the main drum set. It's a great first time drumming kit. I'm learning to play the drums and it has everything I need, except for 1 item. I have not found a way to increase the volume of the specific instruments such as the snare. There are times that I would like to increase the sound of the snare and not the overall volume of everything. If I would have known that, I would have gone with the package above the Surge. The material of the product is very nice and well built. Very responsive to all the hits. The thing that I love is how compact it is and able to store if needed. I also like the fact that I can buy the individual parts for different items if I ever need to without buying a whole new drum set. I do recommend buying the Amp speaker, or even going with the package with the 8 inch amp speaker. It makes a huge difference when learning to play. ... show more

Life long drummer... Assembly instructions are vague. Takes some adjusting to get it to fit your reach. Lots of features and sounds. Works great and is a ton of fun. Would recommend.

I guess I expected far more for the price paid. The drums are laggy, the hit is quit dead feeling doesn’t rebound anywhere remotely like a real drum head, the sound blah and overall I can say it’s a massive disappointment.

Absolutely love my drum set . Took me awhile to put together but once I understood the process, it clicked . Still need to strap up the cords but it sounds wonderful. My only issue was I didn't realize I needed an amp. I have now gotten an amp by Alesis and the separate audio cord . Wish it was clearer when ordering . Definitely recommend buying . I highly recommend you give an amplifier with this set. It was a real pain to assemble but it did give us quite a bit of grandpa / grandson time. The connections could have been a simpler design but it makes up for it in how adjustable it is. You can set the drum and symbol heights and spacing for any size kid or adult.
