  • Works with Pageflip page turner
Style: ASP-1 MKII
My Pageflip fell about 2’ off my amplifier when packing up. The right pedal quit working. I could hear no click when holding the pedal next to my ear. The reed switch was broken. $75 for bench fee then labor and parts…too much. I bought this foot pedal and plugged it into the back of the Pageflip. Works great. You have to buy a 1/4” female to 1/8” male adapter. Total cost $20. Better than buying a new Pageflip or getting it repaired. Switch must be turned to momentary position…..away from the cord coming out the back. ... show more

  • Playing on Carpet? Beware!
Style: ASP-1 MKII
Pros: - Universal compatibility with various devices - Sturdy construction for durability - Dual functionality as a sustain pedal and momentary footswitch Cons: - Excessive force required to depress the pedal spring - Unsuitable performance on carpeted surfaces - Lack of responsiveness affects user experience Summary: This pedal offers universal compatibility and a dual functionality that caters to the needs of musicians and performers. However, there are notable drawbacks that detract from its overall performance and user experience. One significant issue is the excessive force required to depress the pedal's spring. This deviation from the expected and accustomed amount of force can be frustrating and uncomfortable for users, leading to a less satisfying playing experience. The lack of smooth responsiveness hinders the pedal's usability, particularly for musicians who rely on consistent and effortless pedal operation. Additionally, the pedal's performance on carpeted surfaces falls short. The unevenness of carpeted flooring affects the pedal's stability, making it less reliable and hindering precise control. This limitation can be particularly problematic for individuals using the pedal in a carpeted apartment, as described in your case. Despite these drawbacks, this pedal showcases sturdy construction, ensuring its durability and potential for extended use. The pedal's dual functionality adds versatility, allowing users to switch between sustain and momentary footswitch modes as needed. Overall, it is crucial to consider the compatibility with your playing style, preferences, and environment before investing in this pedal. The issues related to excessive force and carpeted surface performance may significantly impact your ability to use the pedal effectively. TL;DR: The Alesis ASP-1 MKII Pedal offers universal compatibility and dual functionality. However, the excessive force required to depress the pedal spring and the unsuitability of its performance on carpeted surfaces are significant drawbacks. The lack of smooth responsiveness and inconsistent pedal operation affect the overall user experience. It is advisable to carefully consider these limitations before purchasing this pedal, especially if you have specific requirements or are using it in a carpeted environment. ... show more

  • Works well, but isn’t silent.
Style: ASP-1 MKII
This is a fine sustain/momentary switch for my synth. It works very well for the money, but doesn’t feel as premium or solid as a larger traditional sustain pedal. When pressing, you can hear the “clunk” of hollow metal and feel the resistance of a spring. With almost no weight, it is easy to slide around. I appreciate the smaller form factor to tuck at the base of my Ultimate Apex stand. ... show more

  • One of the best!
Style: ASP-1 MKII
I use the ALESIS ASP-1 with my Technics kn3000 and kn7000 keyboards. It performs flawless. It is sturdy, metal construction, designed in Germany. It will last a while. I really love the product and its price tag.

  • fundamentally flawed due to stiffness, but could be perfect if not for the spring mechanism.
Style: ASP-1 MKII
Keep in mind this is for the "flat"-profiled pedal, not the one that looks more like a real piano's pedal. This pedal seemed to be perfect. A recognizable brand and a polarity switch. When I opened it, I was pleased to find how sturdy it was. Best anti-slip materials, solid construction. Unfortunately the spring was so stiff it was very uncomfortable to use. It took way more effort/strength to engage than a pedal should. I opened it and found a very thick and sturdy spring. Perhaps good for durability, but it made it very unpleasant to use. Additionally, it was held in place by a large wad of glue, but this might apply to several similar pedals. I do not believe the spring would ease up over a reasonable amount of time. The stiffness was so bad that the signal was not engaging when I thought I was pressing down enough. When playing, the pedal should be a nearly subconscious element, not something you need to worry about. Nearly unplayable. I bought a Yamaha FC5 as a replacement, risking an unchangeable polarity issue with my Arturia midi keyboard, but I was immediately relieved at how it felt. Perfect. No polarity switch, but no issues for my particular controller. The action on the Yamaha was how it should feel. ... show more

  • Great product
Style: ASP-1 MKII
Purchased 2 of these pedals to operate my old Alesis SR-16 drum machine. They work perfectly! Very good quality, fast shipping, and looks like they’ll last me for years to come. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for momentary footswitch.

  • Well built pedal
Style: ASP-1 MKII
I picked this up up for use with an Alesis Sr16 drum machine. It works flawlessly. It is very well built. It has nice weight to it with good solid operation. It easily and quickly controls the start / stop function of the unit. It can also be used to trigger fills when attached to that i/o. I have already ordered another for controlling the additional functions. IMHO it is worth well more than the current $14 price. ... show more
