  • Good Trainers but skip the attached rope
I echo the thoughts of most of the other reviewers, however I would like to make a point or two about usability. - The idea of having the rope tied to the crossbar at the front of the skis seems like a good idea on paper, but ultimately resulted (for our family) in many tears and fear of continuing to try to learn. It didn't dawn on me after repeated promises to my child "Remember, if you fall over your skis or over sideways, LET GO OF THE ROPE and everything will stop!" that the skis WILL NOT be stopping because they are attached to the rope. My advice: Don't use the rope attached to the skis and kids will feel much more in comfortable and in control of their experience. They can let go and not continue to be pulled! Use the skis and the cross bar but skip the rope attached to skis bit. ... show more

  • Satisfied, So Far
I bought these as a christmas gift for my son. He has not been able to use them yet, because it's cold, but they seem to be just as the description said. Overall, I think they will be great for my son to learn on at the right price. I will save the money to buy him a better set once he learns and wants to continue. Therefore, I am happy thusfar. If we have no problems this summer I'm sure I would probably score higher. ... show more

  • Did not last very long
We bought these for my four year old son who was tired of just sitting in the boat and watching everyone else ski. He got up on them right away and used them for about four months until the skis started falling apart. The laminate was peeling off and the wood was cracking and peeling apart. I was hoping my one year old would be able to use these same skis when he got older, but they didn't even last six months. As for everyone who says to not use the rope attached to the skis, They are TRAINER SKIS. The reason the rope is on there is because most kids using these will not be able to pull themselves up on waterskis. If they are able to pull themselves up then pull the rope off and give them a real one. I was able to keep the binding fairly loose. When he fell, the skis came off his feet but stayed tied onto the boat. Out of the 20 times he got up and fell we never had one issue. ... show more

  • reasonalbe skis for the price
Skis look good, are lightweight (wooden and painted wtih lacquer finish) and are easily controllable by little kids and small women. My girlfriend popped right out of the water with these skis! Bindings are nicely adjustable for a variety of small foot sizes and are comfortable. We did notice that after our first run that the wood became chipped on one of the skis. This is a cause for concern with regard to splintering, but likely comes with the territory of wooden skis. Probably got banged against the boat somehow and became chipped. The wood chip is fixable with a scissors and a little sandpaper, just haven't done it yet. overall good skis for the $ ... show more

  • Ok for the price
It has a cheap construction, but works well. After a week the paint has gone in some places where the plastic that links both skis are. They are simple but functional and all the kids have been able to start skiing with these. Bindings are a little bit to short.

  • Foot straps aren't good
I can't get my 8yo daughter to keep her feet in the straps long enough to pull her up... They slip out easily and hurt her feet if you clamp them down really tight. Also the adjustment mechanism that determines how much rope should go to the skis vs. handlebar is hard to figure out. You need someone on the boat that is strong enough to hold on themselves... my daughter's friend could not do it. Since the rope is attached directly to the skis you cannot tie the rope to the boat. ... show more

  • Very Cheap Construction.... tried twice.
Purchased first set. After using them twice the kids were starting to get up on them and the were working great unfortunatley they started to delaminate and come apart. Thinking it was just the construction (glueing) process of that particular set we requested a return. Since we were still at the lake and had friends coming up we purchased a second set (not to loose on the momentum of kids learning) and paid $40 to have them overnighted. Well we have used these on 3 more occasions and theyy ae starting to chip apart and one of the bindings started to rip.since we havent been to the lake in a month the return time frame has passed and we are left with an expensive set of skis that are useless and dangerous.hoping that amazon will warranty or do something abou it. ... show more

  • Good product to teach kids to water ski
My wife and I got this to teach our kids to water ski. But, we took off the "trainer tow rope" and went right to the kids holding the tow rope. Also, the removable ski alignment bar is good for our younger skier but the nut in the ski pulled out very easily. I need to apply some epoxy to fix it. Not a big deal. Really like the adjustable foot pegs too. These will probably last a few years until the kids get older and start wake boarding... ... show more
