Great piano for starters Great piano for starters

I've been looking for a starter digital piano, and this foldable design caught my eye. I purchased this to carry with me so that I have something to practice with when I travel. It folds in half, is USB rechargeable. A full battery charging requires about 2-3 hours of time plugged, for easily 6-7 hours of usage, it is depending on the volume setting. Comes with a music stand, and is much easier to carry and travel with than a full size non-foldable keyboard. This easily fits in an airplane overhead or under the seat in front of me. It has a click lock when it unfolds. It comes with a basic foot pedal for sustain, wall adapter/charger, music stand, and carry bag. The voice quality of the piano itself is mediocre, not for performance, but again, fine for practice. It has many other programmable digital voices as well, electric piano, organ, strings(129 different timbres), most of which I don’t use, but are fun for the kids. It’s not the most premium in feel or sound, but it offers the best balance of portability, functionality, and convenience. It folds easily, holds a long battery charge, charges via USB-C, and works well with MIDI (with a slight delay in DAWs like Logic). There are a few drawbacks: the volume resets to default every time you power it on, which is a minor annoyance. And the speakers are smaller and rear-facing, which gives it a slightly thin sound. Despite those limitations, this an affordable, portable, foldable, practice keyboard has proven to be the most practical and well-rounded choice for my needs.

I’m a beginner learning to play, and I wanted something that wouldn’t take over my living room. This folding piano fits the bill perfectly! It folds neatly in half, and the included carrying case makes it easy to store in my closet. The semi-weighted keys make practice enjoyable — they’re not mushy like some budget keyboards I’ve tried. I’ve been using it with online lessons, and the USB MIDI connection works without any hassle. Highly recommend for small spaces.

Perfect. Doesn’t feel cheap, sounds great and does exactly what I want! It’s far louder than reviews led me to believe. I’ve used this everyday for nearly a month since I bought it for practice. Excellent for a Bonner or someone who doesn’t have a lot of space. Far better than the price paid! Keys are nice and slightly heavy to push so doesn’t feel like a cheap keyboard, but not exactly weighted like the expensive ones. It weighs far less than you think, super light! Keys respond immediately. Bluetooth midi connection works great as well!

Ok for the price

The instrument came folded, which made the package small and easy to handle. If you travel around the instrument is easy to transport. It comes also with a bag. After unboxing and unfolding the instrument, the first impression was on the negative side. The user manual is small and the letters tiny. I had to enlarge the pages to be able to read it. I have no idea why they didn’t made it larger. It is also restricted to the just necessary instruction to use the instrument. There is a lot of trial and error involved to operate the instrument. It comes with a lot of instrument pitches and rhythm you can choose from. Some of them really don’t sound like the original instrument. I play the saxophone and the saxophone setting comes not even close to the sound of any of the saxophones, neither Alto or Tenor. The folding technique seams to be good and the wire between the half’s seams to be sturdy. To unlock the instrument to separate the half’s you need to press a button. Unfortunately the button is on the bottom of the instrument, so you need to turn it upside down to find and reach it. The music stand gives the instrument some sturdiness. Unfortunate there is no real edge at the music stand, so the sheets slide down by the slides movement. To check on the pitch quality I used TE Tuner and set it to piano A4 440Hz. The AcuPiano is the closes to this with A4 441Hz, all other pianos settings are more around 445 Hz. Not all pitches are accurate, some differ by a few Hz, mostly the keys below A3. There are six different types of piano to select from. In the user manual are some names and you need to look into the internet to find their meaning and sound. There are three types of piano without further description. I tested the pitch of all of them and only the AcuPiano setting was the most accurate and closes to a real piano. The keyboard has a built in battery, which you can recharge with a USB-C cable and charger. Nice feature, you can use also a power bank. So you are independent from a power source. But I am missing a battery charge indicator. The built in battery suppose to have 1800mAh, but again no hint in the user manual how long a charge will last. There is a Bluetooth function, but it is only connecting to a device with a screen (cell phone, tablet) Connecting a wireless headset is not possible, you need one with a wire and a standard jack. This is unfortunate, because I don’t have something like this any longer (who has?). Now I have to purchase one. The same is with the microphone – no Bluetooth, only wired once. All the connector are the same dimension, no color coding to identify them. If you don’t know the order you are lost, especially in a dark environment. There is a built in metronome. But the metronome is restricted to four simple settings. So yo still need a real metronome. The built in rhythm are not in alphabetical order what makes it hard to find the right one you want use. Some type of rhythm have only one sample (Jazz), some more than three (Salsa), some you really don’t need. Don’t understand the selection. Especially Jazz has a lot of different rhythm, so only one is to little. The keyboard has the standard size and number of keys like a standard piano. The keys are semi weighted, means they don’t have the resistance like a piano key. But still enough to give a good feel when playing. Overall you can’t expect more for the price of the piano. But some of the functions (Bluetooth) should be available without making the keyboard more expensive. And wired interfaces are totally outdated. Overall a truly beginner instrument.
