    • Good ramen bowl!
Just got this in the mail today. Had to try it. First off, it's a nice thick quality bowl! It perfectly holds two packages of Maruchan (Walmart) ramen noodles. The first thing I did was assemble the chopsticks and put them away, I know me, I'll be in a hurry someday and forget and leave them in the lid and explode the microwave. Then I put two packages of noodles in the bowl along with the flavor packets. Screwed on the lid, opened the vent hole, then put them in my small 700 watt microwave. I pushed the beverage button, which heats for 1.5 minutes, I did that three times. Then I removed them from the microwave, closed the vent, left the lid on, and let them sit for five minutes. Perfect noodles! I almost didn't order after reading the bad reviews but I took a chance, and I'm glad I did. One reviewer said his melted, he probably has a high powered microwave, and probably cooked it too long at once. My Sistema microwave bowls say to heat in 1.5-2 minute intervals. So I do, that's how I heat up my instant coffee too. My lid screwed on nicely before and after I used it. I screwed together my chopsticks just fine too. Another reviewer said the chopsticks do not grip. It does take practice. Start off with wooden ones then progress to plastic and steel. If you don't eat Chinese food often and practice with chopsticks it will be frustrating to you. The same reviewer said that they couldn't use the pour spout. There is no pour spout on this bowl. Another person said the lid pops off. I didn't have this problem. Another person said the threads were mismatched, I didn't have this problem either. Another person said the quality was bad. I disagree, it's a good quality thick plastic bowl. Another person said they smelled plastic, I however did not. Overall, I think it's a good quality bowl. I'm very pleased with it! I would gladly buy this bowl again! But if my opinion changes, I will update this review. ... show more

    • Roomy, Sturdy, And Attractive

I love these bowls. They're super sturdy and come in an assortment of attractive colors/combos. (Love the "happy" yellow!) Though sold as ramen bowls, they can also be used to heat soups, with the exception of tomato, as someone mentioned. Even *cream* tomato soups will stain and degrade the material. Yes, I did that before reading the reviews. The result was a stained "ring" inside the bowl. Soaking in water with a little added bleach happily not only removed the staining, but the inside appears just as shiny as before, even though some roughness remains. (It looked so good, I ran my finger around the interior lol.) I've also used them for oatmeal, since I like to add nuts and fruit. They hold a lot! I don't use chopsticks, so I can't address those. These versatile bowls have a large handle for grabbing, too. Notice there's also a molded-in lid extension which can be used to assist in opening and closing if you can't get your hands around the large lid or are compromised by, say, arthritis. You don't need to screw the lid closed for heating, anyway. These quality bowls are priced at a value, and come nicely packaged for gift-giving. I've never seen anything like them in stores--so kudos, again, to Amazon for the selection and making my shopping so much easier. ... show more

    • Good container but ditch the chopsticks

I like this bowl for making some quick noodles at work. The size is very good, the design attractive, and the lid secures to avoid spills and vent steam. My biggest complaint is the chopsticks that are built in. These should have been microwave safe plastic instead of metal. One this is dangerous if you were to forget and two, they get very hot in a bowl of noodle soup. Metal is also much harder to grip noodles with. I know it gets easier with practice but if I am trying to grab a quick lunch this is more hassle than necessary. If you are going to get this product, get some different chopsticks and ditch the ones it comes with. ... show more

This Ramen bowl allows you to cook the Ramen and eat it out of the same bowl. I like it, and the portable chopsticks that come with it screw together like a pool cue for easy transport. works like a charm. I like to place only noodles and water in the bowl, and put flavor packet and any prepare other soup ingredients in a separate bowl while the noodles are cooking. On a separate note, these containers are PERFECT for cooking the round noodle packets that come with the instant Laksa product Prima-Taste-Laksa-Mian. These containers are wonderful for making Ramen noodles, but I'm also using mine for salad, rice, "bowl-type" meals using left-overs or when creating meals specifically to have several ready-to-go. I really love this bowl. Is the perfect size for the ramen I put in. The metal chopsticks as a really nice touch, but the quality of the bowl itself far exceeded what I was expecting. Its a durable and I would definitely recommend if you’re looking and unsure if it would last.

I bought one of these ramen cooking bowls a few month ago and have been very happy with it. I didn't use it in the microwave for ramen, I put a packet of ramen in the bowl and add some toppings like finely sliced veggies and meat and then add boiling water from my electric kettle. I close the lid and let sit for at least 5 minutes and the ramen is done to my liking. Two days ago I warmed some tiny potatoes with a scant amount of water in the container for 3 minutes. The potatoes were heated well, tender but not mushy and I was pleased with it, Today I used the same bowl to make my ramen for lunch and the lid would not seal. So it must have warped when I was cooking the potatoes. I would try to tighten the lid and it would pop off. What? These are made to COOK ramen in the microwave! Why did it warp? I have my original one and the second bowl with lid, but will not be using these in the microwave again. These are to my thinking quite expensive for plastic bowls. For Ramen only I guess. ... show more
