Pros: - easy to use - good directions; though the directions on the can itself might differ from the separate directions found on a separate piece of paper included in the packaging, so just be careful. Cons: - none that i can think of. Comments: - i had some sidesteps of my 2014 Jeep wrangler that had some spots of rust on them. The black finish on the sidesteps was even bubbling and flaking off here and there. - Prep work: Used a wire brush and a wire-brushed wheel accessory to a Dremel tool to try to remove all the ‘loose’ rust, etc. - sprayed the paint from about 10 inches away from the surface, spraying back and forth in a slow consistent manner. - when can started running low on paint, the spray started to become more inconsistent. - if i had to do again, i might get the can instead and use a disposable sponge-type paintbrush. - i will DEFINITELY be getting this again. ... show more

The bottom of my F-150 had some rust on it. I did what the directions said and used a wire brush to remove the flaky stuff, then simply sprayed it on top of the rust. 48 hours later (after the advertised cure period) it’s hard as steel. It really did bond with the rust and become this hard shell. Only thing is this: don’t treat it like paint. If it’s not attaching to rust, it comes right off. It’s supposed to bond with the rust. Unless it has rust to bond with, it’s a crappy paint. At least in my experience. If you’re looking for a preventative then use Fluid Film or something. This stuff is a repair for rust. Overall, AWESOME ... show more

The adhesion properties r fantastic. This stuff works good as a primer to.( If ur painting something black ) just like any painting u need to FOLLOW the instructions. Every paint is different. But usually with rust converter paint it must be ruff (40/60/80 grit on bare metal) if u want to paint on bare metal. Otherwise just get the flaky rust and paint off . And blow it off with the air hose and or wash it with some dawn dish soap, and it will work out good . Just follow the instructions. Don’t take short cuts , the end result will be affected by ur preparation before u paint ... show more

I purchased this AGS product to compare it to Eastwood's rust inhibitor and Por-15 rust preventative. I've now used all three on auto frames and where I want to stop rust. The Por says it's not UV resistant so if that matters AGS is better. I couldn't find any real difference between Eastwood's inhibitor and AGS. Both flowed about the same and dried rock hard and just the right sheen. The main difference comes down to price... after taxes, shipping and the handling cost to dent the cans ... AGS came out a bit cheaper. All in all, for the money, I'm liking this product ! ... show more

It was definitely easy to use but hard to take off if you make any mistakes. The finish isn’t shiny like my car so a black matte look is noticeable around the car. Fyi but overall I’m glad the rust is gone.
