The adhesion properties r fantastic. This stuff works good as a primer to.( If ur painting something black ) just like any painting u need to FOLLOW the instructions. Every paint is different. But usually with rust converter paint it must be ruff (40/60/80 grit on bare metal) if u want to paint on bare metal. Otherwise just get the flaky rust and paint off . And blow it off with the air hose and or wash it with some dawn dish soap, and it will work out good . Just follow the instructions. Don’t take short cuts , the end result will be affected by ur preparation before u paint ... show more

The bottom of my F-150 had some rust on it. I did what the directions said and used a wire brush to remove the flaky stuff, then simply sprayed it on top of the rust. 48 hours later (after the advertised cure period) it’s hard as steel. It really did bond with the rust and become this hard shell. Only thing is this: don’t treat it like paint. If it’s not attaching to rust, it comes right off. It’s supposed to bond with the rust. Unless it has rust to bond with, it’s a crappy paint. At least in my experience. If you’re looking for a preventative then use Fluid Film or something. This stuff is a repair for rust.
