Worked well for healing bed sores

These worked well to help heal my dad's bed sores. We no longer need them since switching to an alternating air mattress, which has kept the bed sores from coming back. That was the only use we had for them, and they did the job.

It has been used for my mom after her colon surgery. Her incision sight near her belly button was staying moist and becoming infected. The home nurse suggested it after the surgeon told us to keep gauze there. This worked better than gauze and now she feels better and is healing nicely.

I'm not sure what the 5 star reviewers are using these for. But, if you are using them correctly, you are using them for a wound with exuduate (likely excess.) For this case, they are not what you want. They are not high absorbency, they are thin and they absolutely stick to the wound. If they are wet enough the majority peels right off, but pieces randomly stick even when soaked with extra saline. Anyone with a painful wound knows "majority" doesn't cut it when you have to fish pieces and fibers from the wound. Some have mentioned discoloration, but that is actually leftover fibers lodged into parts of the wound that need to come off. I recommend a steady stream of saline in a bottle that you can squeeze to control the pressure instead of picking. It will take some time, but it will work if you havent had the alginate on very long. I actually prefer the strips in a couple other brands. Even though this version is easier to apply, it is not worth all the hassle and constant bandage changes. Lastly, if all that wasn't enough it does not seem to magically heal the wound as others I have I used. I may go as far to say as it set me back the first use because I had no idea how much faster these would get sopping wet. I did feel that slight burning and should have recognized it was causing maceration, but was so used to the other alginate lasting at least 8 hours, usually much longer. Now my wound has grown an additional 1/4in around the entire thing.
