Designed for superior filtration efficiency, these filters are made with electrostatically charged synthetic material that draws and captures allergens between 0.3 - 1.0 microns, including lint, dust mites, spores, pollen, pet dander, fine dust, smoke, viruses, and bacteria. Aerostar filters are a simple and cost effective step towards a healthier home environment, free of airborne allergens and particles that can trigger various allergy and asthma symptoms. Just wanted to drop in and chat about the Aerostar 20x25x1 MERV 13 Pleated Air Filters I picked up on Amazon. With allergy season hitting me like a freight train and my HVAC system working overtime, I figured it was time for an upgrade. Here's the lowdown: Price Point: First things first, these bad boys come in at $65.31 for a 6-pack, which breaks down to about $10.89 each. Not too shabby, especially considering these are MERV 13. They promise to snag everything from lint and pollen to smoke and bacteria. So far, seems like money well spent. The Fit: They're supposed to be 20x25x1, but the actual fit is a smidge under that. No big deal, they slide into my furnace slot without any fuss. If you've ever wrestled with a filter that's too snug, you'll appreciate the easy fit here. Performance: Let's talk about the reason we're all here – do they actually work? Short answer: Yep. I noticed a difference in my air quality pretty quickly. Less sneezing, less dust floating around, and even the pet dander from my two dogs seems less invasive. Plus, the house overall just feels fresher. Durability: They recommend swapping these out every 60 to 90 days, but they suggest bumping that up to every 30 days if you're running your system non-stop. After years of using the more expensive filters I took a chance on these to see how well they worked in comparison. So far I am impressed mainly because they do trap dust better. The Filtrete 1500 filters I was using may have cost more but they didn't catch dust like these. It's noticeably better on the surfaces in our home. These are a bit flimsy in construction compared to the others but they fit fine. I noticed right away the filter material is softer, less rigid, than the Filtrete and I think that is why they catch dust better. After 2 weeks of normal use I pulled the filter and was surprised how much it trapped. It wasn't that bad but I replaced it anyway. It's flimsy compared to alternatives. MERV value not marked on filters. Filter medium does not look impressive. Probably won't order again. On the plus side, they fit OK so they were easy to put in.

The filter seems to have a filtering performance of an MERV-13 (comparable to 3M filter with MPR of 1900, unable to reach quality of a MPR 2200). However, packaging is below expectation. Although the product I bought is a multi-pack, each filter still needs to be individually wrapped to ensure the same performance when the filters are used at a later time 3, 6, 9 months from date of purchase. Update after 50 Days of Use (July 5, 2020) When you read the product packaging of most Home Use Filters, it states that the filter could last up to 90 days. Here I am on Day 50 after the date of install and, oh my goodness, I could not believe in the power of this air filter. It looks so dirty with all dust and human hair after just 50 days of use. And this DOES NOT MEAN THAT THIS FILTER IS NOT LONG LASTING. It actually works so well that it captures this huge amount of dust and human hair in just 50 days (air conditioning has been on most of the days). Removing the dirty filter, I inspected the area behind the filter. I used my finger and swiped on the floor of the furnace, being made of metal, and guess what, my finger was virtually clean. No dust or hair has been able to pass the filter onto the furnace duct area. Over the past 50 days, I, as an allergy sufferer, I did not experience symptoms of allergy like red and itchy eyes and runny/sneezing nose, and I must thank to the performance results of this filter. Originally, I gave this product a 4-Star only, not a full 5-Star. This was because I bought a 5-Pk and each filter is not individually wrapped. With this superior performance of the filter, I have decided to up the rating to 4.6 star, which is rounded up to a 5-Star. ... show more
