I think that this is a quality cake slicer for the price! It’s adjustable which is one of its best qualities. It’s pretty easy to use. Just find a solid foundation and shimmy back and forth for a level cut. Cons: products packaging was not great. Product was shrink wrapped and put in a box with other heavy items that could have easily damaged it. I believe this should be prepackaged in cardboard before arriving to the packaging facility for Amazon to ship out. ... show more

I was actually shocked at how well this worked considering how cheap it was. I wanted one big enough to cut a 10" cake and this one does. Most of them will only cut up to an 8" cake. The cutter feels really sturdy and I'm looking forward to many more uses out of it.

So easy to use and clean! I've never made a layered cake before so I was anxious with my ability to cut a cake straight/even. This tool is so easy to use, I love that you can adjust where the wire sits so you can get the perfect slice to either trim the top or split in two even pieces. Didn't need much cleaning, a crumb here or there came right off with a quick once-over with a soapy sponge, I wouldn't attempt to clean it in the dishwasher though, I can imagine the wire getting warped from the heat. Not sure if it was the item or if my cake was too moist, but this did not really work to shave down the top of my cake layers to make them flat so they could be even heights in a layer cake. I ended up just using a serrated knife and not this item. I kept it anyway and will try it again another time. ... show more

I use this cutter for makes soap loaves cut on the diagonal. I highly recommend it for this type of project as well as for cutting cakes. It's very durable and cuts into my soap like butter. There are many sizes out there but this one is just perfect for smaller projects.
