Technically it does work. However if you plan to ever use it you will be disappointed. You will be stepping on the tiny narrow straps of metal. With shoes on it's even really awkward to stand on. All the pressure is on an area of your foot the size of a couple quarters stacked. They could have easily designed the steps to be more chunky to make the product more useful. I use the ladder to get debris out of the window well, wash the window, etc. ... show more

The ladder rungs are just metal bars so they aren't easy on the feet. Assembled in <5 minutes. Fit fine in my basement window wells. OK, just doesn't feel especially sturdy.

Style: For Metal Wells (Hangs on Lip of Well)
I needed a ladder for the egress window well in our basement. The well is a little too deep for my kids to pull themselves up and out of, and if we ever had a fire I wouldn't want them stuck in the egress well unable to get up onto the lawn. This ladder came in a small box and went together fairly easily. It is a little putzy but anyone with basic skills and a few hand tools can easily assemble this in a few minutes. It fits really well in our egress well but the steps are not very deep. I works and allows me or my kids to get up and down, but I wish the steps were a little deeper. I have size 12 feet and I have to turn them well to the side to go up and down this ladder. It is also a bit pricey for me considering it is just a few piece of metal and some bolts. However, it was cheaper than most of the other ones I looked at and it does what I need it to, which is get somebody up and out of the egress window well in an emergency. If you find one that is more robust and/or cheaper, I would pass on this one. But if you need something to just get the job done (and hopefully you'll never have to actually use it), then go for it. ... show more

This is a good product. Easy to assemble and install. For my window wells, they are not quite long enough -- takes a real stretch to reach the bottom rung for climbing out. Will be ordering extensions from Adjust-A-Grate. Incidentally, I was bummed to find out these are $10 cheaper when ordered directly from the dealer (though that does not account for shipping cost). ... show more

Lightweight and easy to assemble. I wouldn’t want this to be something I had to climb everyday but it meets code and will get someone out of a window well in an emergency. As long as you’re not using it as a way to get into your house everyday; it’s great! This is the cheapest ladder you’ll find and I have no complaints. ... show more
