I bought the velco version for my son. He hates change, so he complained about the sneakers and said they were uncomfortable, but after a few days he seems to have broken them in and is wearing them without complaint. He had red marks on the first day where the tongue was rubbing and said they hurt on the second day too. I also noticed that there's nothing holding the tongue to the laces (the laces above the velco) like you would have in lace up sneakers, so it makes it more likely for the tongue to be in an uncomfortable position. The sneakers also go pretty high up on his heel compared to his old sneakers, and he initially complained that he did't like the way it felt. My son generally wears wide sneakers, though in a different brand. I bought these in medium width, but it seems that I'm pulling the velco almost all the way tight when I secure it on his feet. I'm getting concerned that if it stretches any it won't be possible to pull the velcro tight enough, and he'll start complaining. ... show more
