Elementary is easy because they have cubbies. High schoolers want everything pristine because they want to look good. Middle schoolers are at that age where they're trying to be cool, but aren't quite yet old enough to fully appreciate and take care of their things. I bought this for my daughter who is an avid volleyball player. It's very durable but also not too heavy. Very large so can carry all her gear as well as an extra set of clothes, snacks, and some entertainment. She's very happy with it.
