  • Cool vintage style and no more lace adjustments needed mid-round.
Size: 12 Color: Off White/Footwear White/Collegiate Navy
The media could not be loaded. These are by far the most comfortable golf shoe I own, thanks for the Adidas Boost (BOA) lace locking system, which is basically a knob you turn to make the shoes tighter or looser. If only more shoes had this technology! It makes it easier to slide your foot into the shoes ... but also helps heavy hitters, like myself, who have a lot of motion in their swing. During the round, especially after driving the ball, I find myself having to pull my laces tighter due to my strong swing. These shoes stay right where I set them and I don't need to keep adjusting them after every 3 holes, like with my Dryjoys. I wear a size 12 or 12.5 ... so typically I size up by half a size when buying athletic shoes. As there are no half sizes, I got a 12 and they fit perfect. I am 6'4 and 230 lbs. so for me, they fit true to size and the width is fine thanks to the BOA closure system. The style of this shoe is fantastic ... it has a really vintage look to it, which hides the modern lace technology under a 'Kiltie' flap, which is non-removable ... unless you cut it off. I really lament the fact that they don't have a black and white version. The tan and white can look a little 'old man-ish' due to the light colors and wide/chunky appearance of the shoe. Having said that, I don't think I've ever had more compliments on a pair of golf shoes as when I wear these. The leather is nice and thick and through several rounds, I don't see as many scuffs and marks as I thought. The rubber on the bottom is very thick and stiff ... maybe the stiffest of any golf shoes I own. It keeps your feet firmly planted and they feel sturdy. The cleats on the bottom don't offer you as much traction as soft spikes but you aren't going to slide around either. Honestly, I prefer spikes ... especially given how fast my swing speed is but these will be better for the range and courses that don't get a lot of water. For the average golfer, they'll be fine. I have not had a chance to wear them in the wet yet but my guess is that these are not made to be waterproof. There are a lot of exposed areas. Overall, if you don't mind a firm/rigid shoe ... these will be awesome. They aren't as heavy as a traditional leather shoe ... probably half the weight of my Dryjoys despite the leather on these being thick and high quality. Value-wise, any Adidas golf shoe isn't going to be cheap. But because of the unique lace technology and high quality look and feel ... you won't find a pair of leather spectator wingtip golf shoes in this style for cheaper. If you are on the fence ... go for it, as I am picky about my golf shoes due to my size and swing speed. Beyond the comfort, everyone at the course compliments me on these and asks me where I got them. I hope my video, pictures and honest review, after playing a few rounds in these, has been helpful to you. ... show more

  • Excellent in all regards except for the price
Size: 14 Color: Off White/Footwear White/Collegiate Navy
These are, of course, golf shoes with a "retro" style. The retro stylistic statement is made by wing-tip toes and the fringed "flap" that folds forward over the laces. I am not a golfer, and I don't intend to take up the sport. I therefore simply cut off the golf-themed "retro" flaps, and I now have a very good, and good-looking, pair of everyday-wear shoes that are a bit more refined in appearance than the usual casual footwear. These shoes are quite comfortable, and I especially like the knob that is used to tighten or loosen them. I suppose that's what the "BOA" is about, although I don't know what the letters stand for. Nonetheless, I find using the knob to be faster and easier than tying and untying shoelaces. The knobby parts of the sole are no doubt designed to provide great traction on the grass of a golf course, but they serve the same function in other outdoor locations as well. Just be aware that in some types of terrain--such as walking across an area with certain types of soil or with a lot of fallen leaves--you may want to clear the soles of debris before you enter the house. I was able to do that quickly and easily by clapping the soles together, but no doubt some types of soil would require more effort to clear. I was a bit indecisive about what size to order. My normal shoe size is 14, but some size 14 shoes I've ordered in the past were too short: more like a 13 or 13 1/2. Many manufacturers offer their shoes only up to size 13. These Adidas MC 87 shoes were available in sizes up to 15, so I considered ordering at 15 just in case they ran small. I ended up ordering my normal size 14, and was glad I did. These shoes run true to size, and they fit my feet just right. The only questionable aspect of these shoes is, to me, the price. $200 strikes me as being rather expensive, but you do at least get a very good-quality, comfortable shoe that has distinctive style. ... show more
