  • A first ever on amazon at 24in 144hz and IPS. It does the job well enough
Style: 144Hz
Sorry, I don't really have a solid suggestion with color calibration. You would probably have to wait for the results from pro monitor reviewers such as rtings(.)com and others Pros: - No dead pixels on arrival (this varies from customer to customer) -Freesync works when Overdrive is on normal, not on exteme - they have an analog stick that adjust your monitor settings -IPS at 144hz 1080p at 24in is delightful (why this monitor is getting most of the points) -VESA compatible -Better than TN and VA panels (colors don't look as vibrant compared to IPS) -HDMI 2.0 is okayish -colors out the box is acceptable Cons: -The monitor build is cheap and a bit flimsy, but this is where acer cut corners so it is more a budget friendly build at 144hz - Overdrive at Extreme does NOT work when Freesync is enabled (my experience, maybe different for you) - NO SWIVEL or HEIGHT ADJUSTMENTS ON STAND - its a 6 bit + FRC panel with only 250 cd/m2 brightness (but I don't notice significant color depletion) - Gamer aesthetic is a tad much, personal preference though. -Does not come with DisplayPort cable -IPS bleeding (but that is just predisposition of IPS panels, not really a con if you know what IPS issues are) -When VRB is enabled at normal or at extreme the brightness substantially decreases. The real rating is a 3.5 if I had the option Even with multiple shortcomings (more cons than pros) I feel that acer did a decent job with this budget friendly monitor because the main selling point of this monitor (IPS 24in 144hz) does its job well enough to overlook the issues this monitor has , if color accuracy is what you want at 24in 144hz IPS monitor, then you have to wait. ... show more

  • Good monitors, but something very basic was overlooked.
Style: 144Hz
As others have mentioned, the panel itself is great with few defects. The major defect is in the software. I'm a little shocked something this basic was overlooked, but the monitor does not retain custom RGB values when it's power cycled. The sliders retain their values, but the monitor does not register the change unless you go back into the menu and edit one of the values. This should have easily been caught in testing. ... show more

  • Superb monitor for the price.
Style: 75Hz
I was looking for a gaming monitor for my Xbox One, had been using a Sony Bravia HD TV and it never failed anytime I wanted to game somebody was watching TV. Yep. I looked at the BenQs Zowie and almost pulled the trigger, but I really wanted an IPS monitor. So far I'm pleased with the purchase and for the price very happy with the quality of the product. Dimensions: Since the monitor doesn't come with an adjustable stand here's some measurements that might help you determine if you might want to purchase a separate stand. Height from desk to bottom edge of monitor: 3 1/2", height from desk to bottom edge of viewable screen: 4 1/4". Height from desk to top edge of Monitor: 16 1/4", and width of monitor: 21 1/4". The height of the monitor stand worked perfectly for me so I didn't need a separate stand. Initial impressions: The monitor comes in a basic plain cardboard box with some black graphics, nothing over the top. Packaging seemed adequate for the price point, standard foam protection wrapped in plastic. Assembly was straight forward, snapped together without issue. They left out markings for the connections, there's two HDMI connections but neither are marked, which one is HDMI 1 and 2? Small details left off to squeeze into the price bracket it's in. Not a big deal, not like you'll ever look at it again. The monitor stand, does it's job well and looks pretty cool. Startup: Fortunately for me I didn't notice any dead or stuck pixels. Color and appearance: Out of the box black was very washed out to light grey. Horrible. Played around with the settings and decreased the brightness. The settings menu has a lot of depth and adjustments, I set mine to Gaming. The only negative thing I have to say about this monitor is in the Gaming mode it throws the number "60" up in the top right hand corner of the screen. Not sure why they did this but oh well, I've gotten use to it. Another neat feature that I don't use is the monitor comes with built in crosshairs you can turn on, with a couple different versions. This wasn't mentioned in any of the information I read about it. Game play: Flawless as best as my aging eyes can tell, no issues. I'm nearing the completion of yet another play through of the Mass Effect trilogy and game play has been spectacular. Coming from playing on an older Sony Bravia HD TV to this it does feel more responsive. Maybe it's all in my head. In game movie cut scenes aren't great, maybe something to do with "gamer" mode settings. I've been using this monitor exclusively for the Xbox One, so I can't speak to how well it looks picture editing or such but based on the amount of settings it seems it would do fine as a standard desk top computer screen. I think this is a superb monitor for the price and I'm very happy with it's performance. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Holding up well after 6 months, perfect budget monitors!
Style: 75Hz
These monitors are amazing if you're on a budget. I've been using them for both Console (PS4) and PC. I really like the color on them. I've owned Acer monitors before and these have the best color out of all the Acer ones I've tried before. Also the refresh rate is pretty good for the price you pay. But the main focus is the color. You might have to adjust it a little to your liking. But they're great. I've owned two for 6 months. No issues. ... show more

  • Phenomenal Monitor - Acer Nitro VG240Y Pbiip
Style: 144Hz
Update: At the time of purchase (Sept. 2019) this was the only 144hz IPS 1080p display under $200. It was a great purchase for $173, however you should consider the wide variety of monitors that are now available. Mine came with no dead pixels or imperfections, still works great. Pros: -144Hz IPS, colors and viewing angles are great -Backlighting on MY monitor is very consistent (will probably vary from monitor to monitor) -This display works with G-Sync through Display Port, worked very well in the Nvidia pendulum demo -VESA mounting 100mm x 100mm -Control nub for changing monitor settings -Subdued appearance barring the gamer-y monitor stand Cons: -Cruddy, basic stand -1ms response time will not work with Freesync/G-Sync (fine compromise at the price) -Motion blur is present, may bother some people but not me ... show more
