Top Amazon Reviews

  • Outstanding Value at $199
Style: WQHD 180Hz Size: 27-inch
I've noticed a distinct lack of good technical reviews for this specific model, so I'm gonna go into a bit of detail here. If you want the tl;dr: If you see it on sale, buy with confidence. Color Reproduction/Panel Quality: Color volume is outstanding - not just for the sale price, but in general. Color accuracy is very good to my naked eye after setting picture mode to normal from the default of warm, requiring no calibration whatsoever. Contrast performance seems good for an IPS panel. There is some backlight bleed in the lower left corner, but it's invisible against any color other than deep black. Freesync functions well with zero flicker but clamps the overdrive setting at Normal, so most users aren't going to be seeing the advertised response time. Still, input lag is imperceptible and I have thus far been unable to detect any ghosting or overshoot. The advertised brightness of 250 nits appears to be correct. I'm in a moderately lit room and find any setting over 84 a bit uncomfortable with this panel, but I could see it failing to measure up in a room with lots of natural light. Ergonomics: The stand is of decent quality and wobble is kept to a minimum, though you probably will notice some if your typing surface isn't perfectly stable. All movement options are accounted for, though it needs to be said that the panel can't be lifted very high. Very tall users may wish to invest in a fashionable box to set this thing on. HDR Performance: Very good for this price point with surprisingly high color volume and decent handling of contrast for an IPS panel, but SDR color volume is so good that the HDR mode ends up looking inferior by comparison. As ever, outstanding HDR is the only HDR worth using and you won't find that here. Overall: If this monitor holds up over the years I'll most likely be buying Acer again when it comes time to upgrade. This panel feels incredibly premium for the price I paid ($199) and you can tell that great care was taken to provide a clean, color accurate image straight out of the box - most users will be happy to simply enable freesync and set color temp to normal. ... show more

  • Fantastic value monitor, great overall, but kinda weak HDR
Style: WQHD 180Hz Size: 27-inch
I got this monitor to replace an old 60Hz 1920x1200 Samsung monitor I'd had for over a decade, and I was blown away by the picture quality difference you feel when running at 180Hz! Colors are extremely vivid, even without running in HDR Mode, and when you're viewing HDR content everything just really 'pops'. There's no great way to show it through another screen -- you have to see it in person and in motion to really get the full impact. The higher resolution is also very nice compared to your typical 1080 screen, and the few graphics cards that can handle high-framerate 4k are still outrageously expensive, so this will be a solid primary monitor for likely years to come. The only real downside is that the HDR support is a little limited and it's just barely bright enough in HDR mode to not be frustrating when playing something with darker scenes. The stand it comes with has a lot of movement range, and monitor also has a very solid-feeling VESA mount and fits perfectly on my HUANUO dual monitor mount, so it should have no problem with any other standard mounting system. ... show more

  • No issues a month in- left/right rotation is a bit strange.
Style: WQHD 180Hz Size: 27-inch
I have the 1440P 180Hz variant. Monitor stability when you adjust it is really solid. You set the position that you want it in and it just simply stays there. This was a concern I had especially since the cables in the back of the monitor route down and into the back of the stand into a cable guide. I haven't had an issue with cables coming out of the guide when adjusting the position either. Picture quality is phenomenal and surprisingly doesn't have any backlight black bleeding unlike some other reviewers I saw had. This may be due to them having a different version of this monitor but I don't know for sure, hence why I've opened this review with my specific version. There are quite a lot of different picture settings that you can adjust in the menu. Like most monitors, this does not come with a remote. I did fiddle with the settings a bit and accidentally gave myself a ton of ghosting effects but once I changed some of them it went away. Not an issue with the monitor, just user error. I became worried when playing MW3 because on occasion, there would be a solid white row of pixels all the way across that would pop up for a few milliseconds and then go away for another 45mins-hour. Just long enough to be perceived and concerned. This was fixed by updating the GPU drivers on my system, however. I had updated the drivers the week prior since I also finished building my desktop at the time so I didn't think that this was the issue. I have not had this issue at all since updating the drivers. Monitor is surprisingly thin but you may wanna make sure you have enough space for the monitor and a keyboard because the stand sticks out probably a solid 3 inches from the back of the monitor. The base of the foot of the stand is the point in which the left/right rotation comes from, so it's a bit strange but this is probably just a nit-pick. What's not a nit-pick however is that the speaker audio is not good by any means at all. Honestly in 2023 I think the built in speakers in monitors is more of a formality than something that is supposed to be used everyday. They're not absolutely terrible but they're not a baseline "good" either. I would definitely get a speaker system for your setup though. I got a set of Logitech Z313 speakers several years ago and they sound amazing when I don't have my headset running. I don't really understand why this is such a problem for monitor manufacturers to do well considering my speaker set when I bought it was only $30. That being said, in today's marketplace I don't expect monitors or even actual televisions to come with somewhat decent speaker systems installed anymore so this is more of a gripe about where we're at in the market as a whole and not a particular product gripe. Acer is not the only or even the worst offender when it comes to installing cheap or poor quality sounding speakers so I'm not going to reflect this in my review rating. ... show more

  • Excellent quality gaming monitor for the price, just wish the included stand had a slimmer base.
Style: WQHD 180Hz Size: 27-inch
The monitor looks great for the price. The image is clear, and colors are vibrant. My only issues are: the included stand's round base takes up too much desk space (I have a relatively small desk), so it will be a good idea to order a vesa desk mount if your space is limited. Also, when I enable the HDR feature, the picture becomes more washed out, however I'm not sure if this is a problem with the monitor, or an operating system (Win 11) issue... ... show more
