  • My 2nd Acer
CPU: Intel Celeron N4020 Style: Notebook only
This is my 2nd Acer Laptop. Only reason I purchased another is I broke the hinge on my other laptop, which I owned for over 4 years. The Acer works great for me, very quick and fast little machines. The only thing about this particular purchase was the machine did not come fully loaded with Windows 10 so you would have to do that yourself. Not a good idea to purchase is you are not Techie. So far very Happy !! ... show more

  • A three month review of this laptop
CPU: Intel Core i7 10th Gen Style: Notebook only
I have owned and used this laptop for 3 months now and I now feel that I can give it a long term review. Firstly, starting from the outside, it looks beautiful from the aluminum top is a great touch and the presence of a plastic base is not a game changer at all. The screen is bright, responsive with brilliant colors. The keyboard is pleasant to type on with good tactile feel. While the 10 key is a bit narrow with practice you can adapt to it.the track pad is nice but is mostly use a bluetooth mouse. The fingerprint reader, does not reliably work. You can set it up and it does read fingerprints, but upon reboot or boot up it will not work and one must use a pin to access the laptop. I have reset the fingerprint reader, removed it from device manager and re-installed it and searched and tried all suggestions from the Acer forums and no beans. However this is a small issue. The boot up is FAST..... from touching the power button to entering my pin is 5-6 seconds, yea that fast!. The processor is also incredible, this I7 will take anything you can throw at it. Last week I was transcoding video and pegged the cpu at 100% with temps at 80 degrees C, and it never missed a beat. This CPU will allow medium gaming when coupled with the Iris plus graphics, but do not think you can play COD at max graphics. The SSD drive is amazing and loads programs in seconds. As to the external ports 3 usb ports and 1 usb C port is a plus and are sufficient. The ethernet port and HDMI ports I have not used. Battery life, is very good. I have not gotten the advertised 8 hours of battery life advertised but I have gotten 5+ hours on a full charge. The lack of a CD rom is not a big deal, buy an external one for about $25 or so. Also I love the backlit keyboard since most of my at work use is in a dark exam room. All in all this is an amazing laptop and will serve you well! ... show more

  • Decent laptop but not long lasting.
CPU: Intel Core i7 10th Gen Style: Notebook only
The laptop does everything a college student needs but for the price I thought it would last me longer. I’ve only had the laptop for a year and a half and already the laptop is falling apart. However, it could also be user error as this is my first laptop and I’m on it pretty heavily. Definitely am not buying an Acer laptop again though. ... show more

  • Great Laptop for the price
CPU: Intel Celeron N4020 Style: Notebook only
Great laptop overall, love the display, has decent hardware. Display is great although you have to adjust saturation of the display. Performance is great not super fast but for a budget laptop its fine. Battery easily last 8 hrs or more depending on what task your doing. The laptop is completely fanless, this to me is a huge plus, less noise and not having to clean the cooling fan often due to dust building up inside the case. I would say my only complaint is for some weird reason the sound quality especially using youtube watching videos the sound is extremely low, but based on my research this is due to some setting call "enhancement" removed in the realtek driver version that allows a feature called loudness equalization, its not terrible but can be louder. My suggestion is if you going to use this laptop disable windows s mode, its very limited, havent noticed a difference in performance after turning this off. There is also a slot to upgrade the 4 gb of ram that comes built in the device. If you purchase it would be wise to upgrade the 4GB of ram to at least 8GB for a boost in performance. ... show more

  • Works great for gaming with high specs, bad for bluetooth
CPU: Intel Core i5 9th Gen Style: Notebook only
First off, I had an acer aspire 5 for 4 1/2 years and it worked great up until a few months ago. One big problem that came up other than the hardware starting to fail was Bluetooth would randomly disappear. I had no clue why this would happen and it would just randomly come back sometimes, other times not so much. I was hoping that was just because my laptop was old, however after having this new acer aspire 7 for only a month, my Bluetooth decided to disappear and stop working. Basically from what I could figure out my Bluetooth module disconnected physically. I tried to troubleshoot my Bluetooth but found the error that is in the attached image. After trying to get help from acer support, don't bother, I decided to give up, shut down my computer, and physically shake it around to see if that would fix it. Low and behold, it did. When I booted my computer back up I had a copy of my original Bluetooth device back in the device manager. This should not be possible, I should not be able to shake my computer and fix it, somewhere down the line the design or manufacturing was done wrong and it allows the built in Bluetooth module to physically disconnect. So long story short, this is a great laptop, it runs well, can run my very demanding games, as well as run anything I need for school, the fan is kind of loud but that means its keeping my hardware cooler which I am fine with. The big downside is the Bluetooth, and as I have discovered this is not a rare occurrence. So if you don't intend to need to use Bluetooth reliably, this is a great purchase. If you need to use Bluetooth reliably I would look somewhere else. ... show more
