Description

Our story begins with Lilly turning seven and asking for a tablet of her own for her Birthday. There are so many things you can do with a tablet and its a big responsibility for parents and children navigating the online world. Sammy, the big brother of our story, helps explain to Lilly the best way to stay safe with the help of a book he read with his parents when he was little. Lilly teaches her friends just what to do and even helps her friend when she doesn't follow the safety rules and doesn't like what she sees. You will learn age-appropriate rules and safety measures for everyone in your home to keep screen time to a minimum and have a family challenge to stay connected outside of devices. Fun activity pages and progress charts will help engage kids to use and plan the use of devices for fun and learning without all the negative distractions. At the end of the story there are more pages to aid parents as well. You can create successful bedtime routines to avoid pitfalls of tantrums from the overuse of devices. The Digital Detox challenge is at the end of the book to encourage designated time to put away devices as a family and connect and engage. Deciding as a family how to reward successes through a planned detox. Strengthening families and kids to maintain the control over devices and limit the control the devices and apps have over the family and individuals. Read more

This book is such a lifesaver for families because parents aren’t always sure how to set rules without having constant arguments, especially when their kids ask for more screen time. This story makes it easy for children to understand why boundaries are so important. Also, during the story, they will learn, remember, and repeat safety tips to their parents! It’s refreshing to have a tool that sparks conversations about using devices responsibly. “A Tablet for Lily” is perfect for parents who want to keep things balanced and positive with their children’s use of technology. ... show more
