Winning or losing, this game is a lot of fun. It is by far the most premium game in our collection. Materials are A++ throughout. This game also packs away better than any game I've ever seen. There's a container or place for everything - no baggies, no need to get your own little containers or trays - this game has everything included. It's gorgeous... Besides the production value, it is also a very fun game with some great game mechanics. I could be a little biased because I'm a whiskey nerd, but this game just hits all the right notes. Lots of replay value too with different "tasting flights" that will change the game quite a bit. I'd put it at medium weight. Also to note it has been taking us longer than the 30 minutes per player stated on the box. But we're still new so we'll probably speed up as it becomes more natural. ... show more

    • Easy strategy game even for Seniors
We bought this copy after watching game play on BGG. Set collection, card management, interesting theme. To start you pull a card to inherit a broken down distillery. The cards represent actual distillery owners in history, giving you the name , region of the world and history of their business. Through game play you learn about how to distill many different brands. There are so many we have played a dozen games an still haven’t made all of them. We are older board gamers and find this one easy to pick up and play plus it’s a game that leads into a lot of discussion during play. Still it has a lot of strategy very often the winner only wins by a few point difference. Well worth the money ... show more

For euro fans. Similar feel and mechanics, but enough differences to make this a great addition to any board game euro collection. Cool theme, but mechanics make this one worthwhile all on their own.

Fun, great quality. As avid gamers we are always looking for something different. While this has many of the same game mechanics, they are put together in a way that is very interesting. Easy to learn if you already know these types of mechanics, but if you are newer then a quick set up and playthrough video is all you will need. Set up does take a minute, but that is what helps with the replayability. ... show more

This is a great game once you figure it out!. It took about 3x times playing it, to understand all the strategies and now we love it! For those of you who play a lot of games..... I would say the difficulty level is higher than "Wingspan" but lower than "Arc Nova".

    • It is good, but you want to make sure you love the theme before spending the money
I do not own this game, but played it a couple times at Geekway this month (May 2023). First off as mentioned component quality is great. There are lots of trays for everything to go and even room for expansions. A+ to box design and component placement and quality. The time to table is a little higher, but not terrible depending on how you put the game away. I would estimate 10-15 minutes to set up. If you played Marvel Legendary it is not that bad, but more than the average board game. As far as complexity its medium. It will take you a couple hours to learn. While playing there are a lot of different actions in play and in the mid rounds you have awards. I would say it falls between being slightly more advance than what you find on the shelf at target, but nothing the average adult can't figure out with a few YouTube videos. Gameplay with the theme is fun. You really have to be into the "alcohol" theme. Yes there is replay value with the different brewers and items, but the core mechanic can get a lot of repetitive. It tries to add a "luck" factor in the discarding to brew and some of the item cards give you a complete leg up on this mechanic. Also the game is heavily tilted to making your "master recipe" so its easy for someone to rack up so many points in say a late round. If you are oblivious to this you will more than likely lose. Also I believe a draw back to this game is just how powerful "sugars" are. Sugars pretty much guarantee an "alcohol" which is needed to brew, but additional alcohols can sub in for water and mead/barleys etc. Other than those small complaints the game is fun, but I feel like at $70-$75 the replay value is just not there unless you just enjoy the "alcohol" theme. It is a great game to show off in your collection, but not one you could have new people to board gaming play. But if you have a gaming group already that likes to drink they will surely want to play this game! ... show more
