It is not often that a press, particularly a small private press like Klanak, has the good fortune to publish a first collection of writing as polished and mature as these poems by Florence McNeil. What we most admire is the depth of observation and acute microscopic perception in the writer, the warm and tender regard for the human condition, a touch of satire, and a refreshing regionalism in that faith, not the ego, relates to the wilderness.
