I bought this unit for the occasional power outage and have used it for 3 hours of outage on two occasions plus about 20 short runs for testing and wiring it to the house. I don't have long term usage but when I needed it, it worked perfectly. I did use it to power a 36000 BTU (3.5 ton) central air conditioner along with a 2 HP deep well pump. I started the central air first and then added the pump load along with some miscellaneous small loads. The operating load of all this was about 6kW, well within the generator's limits but my original question was whether the generator could handle the starting load of the air conditioner and the pump starting load with the air conditioner running. Those brief starting loads can be 3 to 5 times the running load. The generator slowed down for a second or two but then handled the load easily. Other observations: The manual is clear and has full diagrams of the electrical system. The unit appears to be well constructed with a solid frame and a solid fold out handle. It started on the first pull and starts quickly with the electric starter. Voltage was 121 Volts with no load and 119 under half load. Light load frequency is 60.5 Hz. It is fairly loud with a combination of mechanical, air intake and well muffled exhaust noise but I thought it was reasonable for the size. It not going to be in your living room anyway. The only thing it is missing is load metering but that comes with higher priced units. In sum, a good quality unit for a very reasonable price. I measured the frequency with a more accurate meter and found the unit was running at 62.5 Hz with almost no variation from a 200 Watt load to a 4000 Watt load. This small error (4%) was the reason an APC Back-UPS 550VA UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (BE550G) would not steadily pass the load to the generator but would cycle every 10 seconds back and forth between generator power and its internal battery power, eventually running its battery down. A replacement tripp lite unit bought from Amazon works well and passes to load to the generator.

I live in Florida and bought this unit in 2016 after Hurricane Matthew hit us. It sat in my garage for year, only started it once every 4 or 5 months and let it run for 20 min at a time. Then Hurricane Irma hit us this year (2017). So this was my first real test for this generator and i couldn't be more happy with it. It ran for a total of 80 hours and never let me down and what handled everything i tried to power with it. I had my full size, Whirlpool double door refrigerator/freezer, 12,000 BTU AC window unit, 65 inch LED TV with a surround sound system, 2 PlayStation 4's, Internet modem and router, another 40 Inch LED TV, 4 box fans, 2 standing fans, 7 lamps and a cell phone charger all running off it at the same time. With all that it never really seemed like it struggled to run anything. To my surprise it was actually great on how much fuel it used. With all that running on it throughout the day i was getting nearly 12-13 hours of run time on 7 gallons of gas. Which brings me to my next point, it was never really shut off for anything longer than an hour here and there and that was because we were leaving the house and didn't want to leave it running. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone and am very grateful that the people at A-ipower made such a quality product. It was the biggest comfort in a tough situation.

pilot shipping sucks, lost my generator and then a week later when found, the box and pallet was destroyed battery is cracked, several small dents in frame and exhaust heat shield. final delivery by Forward air was awesome, they told me on the phone the package was in bad shape so I asked if I could just pick it up, they even let me set the thing up in their warehouse and gas and oil and start it up. generator works so I took it. this is exactly what I expected when I ordered this generator. it was poorly packaged to begin with but was damaged in shipping by PILOT freight. generator is great and that's why it got 5 stars it runs my 240 volt welder and plasma cutter at the same time. I wish I could get a new battery as it is cracked and leaking acid although it does still work and I will use it till it stops and go buy a new one. the reason I took the generator,because I was offered the chance to return it and get another one. I had 2 scheduled days to have this thing delivered, both times wait around ALL day and NO SHOW never called or emailed or anything and a 3rd day when I got to go and pick it up. they didn't even know where it was, let alone have the ability to deliver it. SO ya I kept this one because it works and didn't want to waste another day or 3 waiting for another one.

Purchased this Feb 2024. Setup was easy and it fired right up out of the box! No cord pulling, just pushed the button! Every few months I test ran the unit to be sure it was ready for use. I live in hurricane territory (coastal N Carolina) so having a reliable generator is not really a luxury. A few days ago I fired it up again but this time tested it with load by plugging in a simple electric lamp. No power output! I went through the trouble shooting step witout success. So I contacted A-ipower customer service via their website. I got a quick reply suggesting I call support directly for a better trouble shooting experience. So, I called expecting a long wait... didn't happen, was only on hold for a few minutes. The support rep (wish I wrote down his name), was polite and walked me through a few simple steps that quickly revealed the problem! The A/C outlets are GFI circuits and both had tripped! I reset the GFIs and bingo I had AC power. Quick and simple fix. If the owners manual was a bit more robust, and included this as a potentil issue in the trobule shootng section I never would have had to contact customer support. All in all my experience with A-ipower has been excellent and I just want to give the customer service 'guy' a shout out for great and friendly service. And oh yeah, I'd highly recommend this unit if you need a generator with power to spare!

With all of the PG&E planned power outages, it was time to do something about the risk of losing food in the freezer and refrigerator. We live in the country so a couple days without power during the winter is not impossible to get thru with some camp gear and a wood stove. However, going longer than that and more often...not so much. So enter our new AI-Power Generator. Package arrived earlier than originally promised after requesting an expedited shipping as rumors were still swirling another shutdown was coming. SenPower/Ai-Power worked with us and accommodated us in this request. Would have gotten here even sooner if the roads weren’t snarled up in the vicinity of the mfg plant due to wild fires burning near there. Will call at the shipping warehouse got it here in 4 days from time of order. Packaging was in good shape and the unit with some help for lifting and assembly was a breeze. After putting in the required oil and fuel...it fired right up the first time. Today we added the necessary wiring to the panel for a direct plug in, we fired it up again to test it and we ran the generator with the oven and a burner on, the hot water heater, both the freezer and fridge with all the lights on. Wow! Oh, and I even turned on a little ceramic heater in the guest bath. The generator only slightly loaded up when we turned on the oven and burner but continued to run smoothly. Very happy with my purchase and my brother ordered one too. I’m ready PG&E...bring it!

I have several 9k-12k portable generators. All but this AI power have been nothing but failure and heartbreak. Got lucky and stumbled upon a good deal on one of these AI 12ks and it is an absolute beast. It literally never fails. I give it the bare minimum or less on maintenance and it just goes and goes. Hot, cold, dry, raining, I’ve had this thing running for days at a time without a hiccup. I keep it at my farm, it stays outside with a cover on it. We have had it for about 5 years now and not once has it ever failed us! After Hurricane Ian in SWFL, our whole home standby generator failed THAT NIGHT. I drove out to the farm and brought this one back home and it got us through until Briggs came out to fix my whole home unit. I purchased a second one of these recently as a backup to my backup!

I purchase this generator on July 17, 2019, This unit was purchased as a backup when electric power was lost. we experienced a power outage on August 11, 2021 for 5 days. We used this unit to supplement our electric power needs during this period. Be advised that this unit has 39 hours. On the 5th day of the power outage, we heard a loud backfire and then lost power. After speaking with SUA ipower about the power, it was determined that the exhaust valve had malfunctioned. The units warranty was expired and the nearest certified service center was over 150 miles from our home. We are now without power backup and the power has gone out once since the devasting storm in August. We are senior citizens and are dependent on the electric power.

This was my first generator purchase and I'm very pleased with it. It was easy to assemble right out of the box and ran immediately after fueling. I bought this unit to power my house during blackouts and so far used it two times for periods about 2 to 3 hours long, running still with the first load of gas (7 gallons), it seems that it will give about 10 to 12 hours on a full tank. The first test run after installing supported everything in my two floors house with ease: four 9.000 BTU air conditioner units, two fridges, one hp water pump, three 42'' TVs, two computers and all the lights on. I ran out of things to turn on during this test and the electrician was more than happy to show me that there was still power to spare. This is a very loud machine (all portable generators are) but is a small price to pay for the comfort it provides during blackouts, can't compliment it enough.
