    • Frankincense Resin – Works Well for Burning
I’ve been experimenting with burning incense for a few months now, and I wanted to try some genuine frankincense. This 8oz Somalian resin seemed like a good starting point, and I’m generally satisfied. The resin itself looks pretty good – it's a nice shade of creamy white, with some darker flecks mixed in, which I assume are natural variations. The smell is definitely frankincense, with a prominent smoky, woody aroma. It’s not overly sweet or floral like some other incense I've tried. It has a decent intensity when burned, though you'll need to break it up into smaller pieces initially. I’ve been using a charcoal disc with this resin, and it burns fairly cleanly. There’s a bit of smoke produced, as expected with resin incense, but it hasn't created a huge mess. I've been using it for meditation and a little bit of home fragrance, and it does create a calming atmosphere. I’ve also used a small amount in crafting projects – mixing it into resin for jewelry – and it blends well. The quality seems pretty good for the price. It’s not the purest, most intensely fragrant frankincense I’ve ever encountered, but it’s definitely authentic and usable. It’s not overly dusty or brittle, which is a plus. I would say it's a solid Grade 4 as advertised. It's worth noting that the size is generous – 8oz is a good amount to work with. Easy burning and the bag has chucks of many sizes. I burned a chuck about the size of a marble. The fragrance was great. Notes of Conifer, parchment, vanilla, and a faint cinnamon. Very pleasant.
