This bolted onto the gate fine. The hardware supplied worked but was a little less sturdy than I wanted. I replaced it with my own. This wheel rolls over my bumpy gravel drive with no problems. It is holding up well after several weeks of use.

I'm using this on a heavy wooden sliding gate to help support the middle. This is kind of a non-standard usage and I had to work on it a bit to get everything happy, but it's working well now. It comes with everything you'd need to attach it to a round fence pole, some U-bolts and nuts/washers as well as a wrench. I ended up using lags for my application and the provided holes and washers worked great. The spring has a little less travel than I would have liked, but with a little leveling here and there it does the job just fine. The wheel is really heavy duty, and the large 8" wheel lets it roll over anything on the ground. One issue that I ran into was that it was packed somewhat loosely by Amazon with other items and rattled around enough that the nuts and washers escaped. I was able to find most of them in the outer box. It is heavy enough that it squished the packaging on some of the other items as well. Luckily, it was just the packaging that was damaged and not the items. I would suggest ordering this item by itself and not with other items because of the weight.

Built a dog enclosure with 4x4 posts and 2x4 horizontal supports... Built 2 gates into this that are 8' wide, meaning that with the wood and size, these gates drag in the dirt a lot! Had a caster screwed into the end of the gate on the vertical piece, but it didn't drop far enough down to push up the gate enough...that and the dogs dug a little hole right next to where the wheel would roll (go figure...), so I'm hoping that this one will raise it up enough that it can go over minor bumps and still allow the gate to roll much more seamlessly when opening and closing. UPDATE: This unit does NOT adjust (never claimed to, so that's on me, but still...), so my gate is now pulled away from the jamb due to the wheel 'pushing' the gat up...but as it is away from the gate, it pulls the bottom of the gate away from the frame...so unless you remove, redrill more hole and reposition it, it will screw up your gate (if you're doing what I did).

I needed a gate wheel to support a gate on a hill. It had to be sturdy enough to handle rough terrain and maneuverable enough to open and close without too much fuss. This fits the bill nicely. The gate wheels roll easily over the ground. I can now push the gate open and close without getting off my mower. Or someone of small stature can open and close the gate without lifting, pulling, or tugging. This is a heavy-duty wheel with an emphasis on heavy. The poor postperson warned me while giving it to me, thinking I would drop it when she handed it to me. Admittedly, it was heavier than expected, but that is good. I'm confident this will outlast me. Five stars are deserved.

The 360 degree rotation on this gate wheel is key. It works really well in rough ground. It’s heavy duty so it can withstand an environment around cows and horses. It’s on a heavy duty gate panel right now. It was pretty easy to install. It functions great and is high quality.
