This trailer jack from GEARCESS is substantial and stout. The option to use a manual handle was key for my husband to choose this electric trailer jack. We also liked the 7500 lb weight rating. We had an electric jack in the past and learned an important lesson. We found an important step in using most electric jacks: after reaching the top or the bottom, move back up or down by about 1” to avoid maxing out the jack when traveling. If the vehicle hits a bump and the jack is maxed out, it can jam. Or if someone runs into the trailer when parked, it can jam. The method described above is said to prevent that from happening unless it is an extreme circumstance. That is what happened to our old jack and it failed us on a trip. My husband was able to take it apart after we got home and re-align it. But on the trip, not being able to unhook from the camper ( since the jack was no longer operational ) was a drastic change in our plans. This jack is heavy in weight and heavy duty in the build design based on our initial observations. The features are either controlled by one of the two hand held remotes or the buttons on the top of the jack. The set also includes a cover that reminds me of a heavy duty rain coat. This is meant to be placed over the control head when the trailer is sitting or out of season. I don’t plan to travel with this cover on the jack unless I am in very extreme conditions…and then I will likely use additional methods of securing it in place. Installing this jack, the manufacturer has provided a long length of wiring already attached to the motor as well as the bolts that will fit most applications. I cannot speak for longevity but we currently see no concerns or issues with the way this is designed and the materials used to build it. If anything changes, we will update our review.

Installed this on my Gray Wolf 22MKSE travel trailer and couldn’t be happier with the result. It’s definitely oversized for what I need, but I always go bigger to reduce strain on the motor and give myself room for upgrades down the road. Everything about this jack feels heavy duty. The welds and finish are clean with no defects, and the unit looks and feels like a quality part. Since I travel the ALCAN Highway each year, I did an axle flip on my trailer, so it sits much higher than stock. My original jack would max out and barely reach the hitch on my lifted truck. This jack completely solved that issue. It lifts higher than I’ll ever need and does so smoothly. The base is wide and very stable, even when lifting at full extension. The remote control works great and saves a lot of back and forth during hookup. Range is excellent and response is instant. It also lets you toggle the built-in LED light which is really useful at night. The bubble levels built into the housing are another nice touch that my OEM jack never had. It’s just one more feature that helps speed up setup without needing extra tools or gadgets. My only complaint, and it’s not much of one, is the light design. It sticks out from the bottom more than I’d like. I would’ve preferred a flush mount light integrated into the housing. That said, it is extremely bright and lights up the entire area, so functionally it works great. The motor runs smooth and quiet with no jerky movement. It includes a manual backup crank just in case the motor ever fails or batteries die, which gives peace of mind if something goes wrong out on the road. Installation was straightforward with a standard two-wire setup and no grounding issues. Just identify your positive and negative leads, bolt it in, and you’re done in a few minutes. This jack checked every box for me. Strong, stable, easy to use, and looks great mounted up front. If you’re running a lifted trailer or just want a more capable replacement jack, this is a solid upgrade.

Based upon the photos, I was hoping the gear head was smaller than the one I have to allow more tailgate access. I only needed a couple of inches but there was no difference. So now I'm trying to decide if I really want to swap out my old one. I could turn it sideways, although, I really like the leveling bubble. That should be a standard feature on all tongue jacks. I also thought the remote was a unique feature, although I don't see myself using it. You typically need to be next to the hitch anyways. IMO, there is a risk with the remote getting pressed accidentally which could cause more trouble than it's worth. The light is a little oversized but works. The on/off buttons are fine but I don't like the flat top. I got it perfectly level and poured water on it. My suspicions were confirmed and the water spooled. IMO, it needs to be at least a little rounded for water runoff. The cap covering the manual gear opening will definitely collect dirt and water. Overall, I'm on the fence with this jack.
