  • exquisite but expensive
One of my family members wrote a book and as a gift, we're making a leather-bound version as a keepsake. Because the whole idea is that we are making a "premium" version of the book, I figured I needed a premium paper to go inside it so I had a few requirements: I needed a paper that looked and felt good but would also be durable over time, I wanted it to be acid free so that it wouldn't yellow with age, and I wanted crisp text and graphics when printing on my color laser. My first instinct was to find a 100% cotton paper because my research indicated that paper is supposed to last 1 year for every percentage point of cotton in the paper. I tried a few nice business/resume paper types but quickly discovered a few drawbacks for this type of project. First, I hated the visual of a watermark on the pages. It's fine for a resume or report, but it just doesn't look right in a book. Second, I found that many of the business papers had a finish that cracked when the paper was creased. This is a little nit-picky since you really have to examine the fold closely to see it, but I worried that those small cracks might spread with time and handling. And third and probably most importantly, many of the nicer papers were of a heavier weight. A lot of the forums actually recommended a GSM of 120+, but after doing some rough calculations I realized that the thicker paper would wind up making the book a ridiculous 9 inches thick or something, which was way too big. Plus the thicker paper didn't turn very well; the pages were too stiff. Anyway, I eventually happened across this paper and was completely blown away. It's really light, something like 20 lb, but amazingly durable for how thin it is, so you can smash five or six hundred pages (after folding) together and still get a decent sized book. The pages turn beautifully and have a very nice soft, not quite velvet feel to them. Text and graphics go on very crisp and smudge free (at least for me), and the natural filaments (not sure if that's the right word) of the paper contrast nicely to the grain of the leather. The paper folds better than almost any other paper I've seen, with crisp folds and no cracking that I could see. Because the paper is so thin there is some bleed-through of printing on the opposite side, but I found that this is less noticeable when there are many pages stacked on top of each other since it's harder for reflected light to get behind a page. From other reviews I gather that the composition of this paper is the same as US paper currency, and it does kind of feel a little like paper money. But not crisp new bills, more like bills that have been used for a while and gotten soft. Speaking of currency, that is the one drawback that I'll mention; the price. It's a premium paper and it definitely has a premium price. About $.30/sheet, which is not cheap, so if you are using it in a project I suggest having plenty of cheap paper on hand that you can practice with before using this. Bottom line, I wouldn't say this is the "perfect for every project" paper, but if you are looking for that kind of unique set of features: light weight but strong, durable over time, good for text and light graphics, with a nice aesthetic and feel, then you could do a lot worse. Also, if you are looking at a project similar to the one I described, I recommend the Ivory as I think it has a slightly easier contrast on the eyes for black text. ... show more

  • My water color paints took really well to this paper and my calligraphy pens.
I was looking for a vintage look type of paper for my artwork and to practice some calligraphy pens on and this turned out great.

  • Why you lie on us? Iodine pen fail.
The media could not be loaded. I liked the promises made in the advertisement. That joy was short lived. The video is a lie. I waited through a "out of stock" issue to spend $30 on paper (and $60 on ink) for a product that is crap.

  • Good quality paper.
I didn’t buy this paper for the typical use it gets, but it worked perfect. It has the right thickness, and if you are looking for a more ruff side, that would look slightly blurry but still sharp for reading, then the backside that is not meant for print will work well too. Since I did also print on the correct, printable side, I am also recommending it for its intended use. ... show more

  • it seems expensive, but actually its a great value.
This is premium paper that you would use for very important projects. Like the final printing of a dissertation or thesis, after you've printed and proof read 100 times on regular printer paper. See attached photos. I adjusted the color in this photo to maximum so you could see the writing. In reality, the color of this paper is much more delicate. The photo is of 3 papers, one is printer paper, and the other is naturally aged 100% cotton paper. ... show more

  • Does not have same texture on both sides
Paper is smooth on one side and rough on the other side

  • This paper is ok, but one side is glossy and the other is a felt feeling matte.
I didn’t like that the paper was 2 different feelings all together. One side was glossy and the other was like a felt soft feeling. This gave my resume an unbalanced feel to it.
