I bought this fro Christmas decor in Dec 2022 and wrapped this around our staircase bannister. Believe it or not, it looks real! When you take it out of the package it is a bit crumpled up and smushed, but when you take the time to unfurl it and shape how you want it looks like actual pine garland. The benefit of this is that there are no dead needles on the ground and you can use again and again every year. You can even add in some pine essential oil to make it seem every more real. At 6ft, I got two garlands to cover my 10 ft banister. I wanted to wrap it around a few times and let it drape down at the end as well. The lights are also great. The string is fairly invisible which helps it seem like the lights are just floating inside the pine versus thick cord. There are also multiple light settings, we chose one that was a dimming on and off which was subtle on the eyes. And the light box that contains the settings is clear so it blends in well and you can hide it in or behind the garland. I like that it's battery operated so you can set it on a stairwell or table without having to plug it in. This was my husbands favorite Christmas decoration this year and we might just end up buying more next season too. Good news is we can reuse it year after year as well! Great price point and nice quality compared to other options on the market. Realistic looking. Nice string of battery operated fairy lights included that take 3 AA batteries. So... these looked and initially smelled like they were made for an aquarium. Skeptical me didn't want to put them up, but did for a bridal shower -- mountains and mimosas themed -- and they were actually amazing. They look so much like real greenery when they're up (I used mini command hooks) and the lights were a perfect warm touch. I bought many of these faux balsam garlands to decorate my home for the holidays. They weren't as full as I expected, but they get the job done. I added ornaments to decorate the garlands, and they come with battery operated string lights, which look awesome!

I used to garlands for my mantle. There was no odor and I felt it was good value for the money. I am giving it a four-star because it is not bendable and does look a little bit plastic from close-up.
