  • Works great
Heavy duty. Great quality. Highly recommend.

  • unfinished
its a cast iron mold, in the rough. I'm not sure one can buy one that isn't, but you want to clean it up, burn off the paint, carefully grind and sand the molds so they are smooth. I guess you don't have to if you like textures and imperfections in your wire ingot. I found a dremal tool worked fine, and then sandpaper. The paint hides imperfections in the mold, which is bad, the paint is bad if it gets into your material you are melting, I would have used linseed oil on the bare metal, its appears to be high heat, on the outside it doesn't matter, just in the molds. It is solid and can be worked, so I gave it an extra star. ... show more

  • Not as described or pictured
This is a Well crafted piece. Sadly the pics on Amazon are incorrect. The narrower slots are exactly the same width. The ones pictured are obviously 2 different widths. It’s a shame you can’t rely on the pictured product or questions and answers here on Amazon or from this seller. I’m not angry at all, just continually disappointed. I wouldn’t purchase this again sadly. ... show more

  • It is NOT WYSIWYG
Just received. It came on time, in a bobble-lined envelope in its own box, wrapped in Saran wrap and generously oiled to protect from rust. Heavily impressive (or the other way around), over 1 kg. Disappointingly, it is a SLOPPY, SLOPPY cast. It is PAINTED (????!!!!) with gray hammer finish. Actual length is 157mm (6 AND 3/16") top edge-to-edge. Te widths are: flat bar - 18mm (45/64" for those of you who like inches, lol) top and 15-16mm at the bottom (the bottom edges are curved). The "wire" slots look more like thin bars, and are quite alike, close to 7mm top, 5mm bottom wide. It really depends where one takes the measurements. The walls aren't even and bottoms have bumps. Did I mention a sloppy cast? Volumes: when filled with water, the flat bar takes 22mL (top of meniscus flush with surface of the mold) up to 27mL (over the top, but still well contained), and both "wires" are 7-8mL. I do understand it is not a precision instrument, and there is not much difference between 3/16 and 1/4, but... in reality it looks much worse than on the Seller's pictures. And why is it painted?!?!?!?!?!? I have not been so disappointed with an online purchase in a long, long time. Ps. I am tempted to cut a slot with a grinder in a side wall of the mold to get something actually resembling a wire. ... show more

  • WTF? Why is this painted 😂
Just like alot of the other reviews say, this thing is painted. Makes absolutely zero sense. It is also a terribly rough cast. You will definitely want to burn off all the paint, and then hit it with a grinder or wire wheel to clean up the cast. Other than that, it is definitely cast iron, and it is heavy. Will work well after it's cleaned up. ... show more

  • Amazing
I am an artisan jeweler and do a ton of wire wrapping so I have a lot of scrap metal. This worked great to create my own sterling silver wire ingot, and I love the fact I have the option of creating sheet metal on the opposite side of the wire side. It is very well designed and works great. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to recycle or re-use your scrap wire and sheet metals. Also I'm not sure if this is necessary, but due to the fact that it's cast iron, I heated it up in the oven set at 350 for about 30 mins prior to the first use to season it. ... show more

  • Very good
Works very well. Ive made about 10 or so ingots of silver so far. I coat with flux prior to pouring it. Goes through my pepe roller easily after.
