  • Solid racks!
These racks are legit! Solid build quality, snaps right together, and the unfinished birch is nice enough to live anywhere in your house and not look like a metal jungle Jim in the corner of a room. One item to note: previous reviews of owners complaining about these falling apart when left out in the rain.....these are made from untreated birch. So if you don't know what birch is, those big things that leaves grow on outside are called trees. We chop those down and make all sorts of things out of, birch is a type of tree. If you place a surf rack outside made from untreated birch and it falls apart, you can just chalk that up to the long list of things that are simple in life, yet difficult for you. Just saying. ... show more

  • Excellent 6 level freestanding surboard rack.
The 6 level free standing surfboard rack by Steve's Rack Shack was a very positive surprise. It was extremely easy to assemble and did not require any tools. It was very well designed and very sturdy. I really didn't expect it to be as solid and heavily built. The photo in the advertisement does not do it justice. It holds 6 - 9 to 10 foot surfboards without a problem, although you do have to stagger the fins. The rack is unfinished laminated wood and very clean looking. It would serve well inside or outside and could be finished with stain or lacquer if one wished. Friends who have seen it have already ordered racks of their own. I recommend it very highly. ... show more

  • Not as advertised
This was specifically advertised for indoor and outdoor use. I ordered two of these and I have them outside. They are both warped and falling apart and I’ve barely had them a month. They’re made of plywood and they don’t have a single metal screw or bolt or dowel or anything to give it structural integrity. Very flimsy. Very low quality. Definitely not a product to be used outside or anywhere where there’s moisture or humidity. ... show more

  • It does what its suppose to
If someone leans on it, it will definitely topple over. However it does what its built to do and hold boards. I have various sizes of boards from 6' to a 10'6 paddleboard. I have it stored outside, but I threw a couple coats of varnish on it. It stays relatively dry when it rains and is shaded from the sun. Time will tell if it will hold up, but for now im satisfied. ... show more

  • Best Freestanding Surf Rack Available
I have owned this Steve’s Rack Shack six level freestanding surf rack for five months and I am very happy with my purchase. I was looking for a rack that I could setup to organize my boards, without drilling into the wall. I researched several freestanding racks and decided this rack was the best option. This rack was easy to assemble -with no tools- and it is much sturdier than I expected. The padding on the rack does a good job of protecting my boards and it easy to get boards on and off the rack. I am also happy to be supporting a local San Diego business. Thanks to Steve for building these awesome surfboard racks. ... show more

  • Works well
This thing is pretty awesome. I was able to get two paddle boards, a longboard, a mid length, and two short boards on it. Because the fins are so big on the paddle boards I had to get creative with how I stacked them, but was able to make it work. It’s easy to put together, just a few pieces and no tools needed. I had a little trouble at first, but emailed Steve and he quickly got back to me to tell me how to do it, I just had one part backwards, so an easy fix. Overall I’m happy with the purchase and would recommend it. ... show more

  • Extremely happy we got this rack.
Absolutely love this surfboard rack. Super easy to assemble. Took my son and I about 2 minutes to put together. Maybe less. No tools, nuts or bolts required. Been using it for about 3 weeks in our car port with pretty strong trade winds blowing through. It’s been ultra sturdy and the boards are secure. My son and his friend were also impressed that there was enough room between the boards so the fins don’t hit each other. And to top it all off, it has great style. Whoever came up with this design is a genius. It’s seriously perfect. ... show more

  • Easy set up surprise
I left in box for a week or two thinking it would take a while to set up. To my surprise it was easy. We’re not mechanically inclined, and building one out of raw materials and plans wasn’t going to happen. This solved the problem. I’ve got some old school thick boards but they fit. I’m going to apply some kind of a water resistant coating on it to protect against wet board stashing. Highly recommend. ... show more
