  • Pretty well made, needs more clear specifications
Ok, so first thing to understand is that this is just a power supply. The actually charging logic does not come from this power supply. As such, I am reviewing it as a power supply. It’s reasonably well made and since it actually assembled with screws (bonus), I could take a look at the guts. For a plastic encased power brick, it’s got about as good as thermal management as you can get, plenty of thick aluminum heat sinking. The issue is the power ratings. It’s printed on the brick. 53.6VDC at 3.9A. Now when you’re charging batteries, you need high current at lower voltages and as you approach full charge, you don’t need much current. This power supply needs to be specified accordingly. It is 53.6VDC at no load. At 3.9A it’s down to 45VDC. That’s fine for a charger power supply , but you’ve got to specify it correctly. It’s perfectly fine to provide two voltages at two amperages. Since it’s nowhere near the label stated value, I’ve got to knock a star. And for what it’s worth, that puts this units peak output power at around 170W. My own advice, when you exceed ~150W, start looking for an aluminum cages power supply of the MeanWell style. MeanWell is a brand, but they kind of defined the style. Better cooling, will last longer. It makes little sense to build a plastic brick to output more than ~150W. ... show more

  • Should work well for you.
Another off-label purchase, intended for experiments in electrodeposition. Develops 53.55VDC @ 3.92A, stable overnight, 82*F surface temperature after 12 hours constant full load. As electrodeposition requires varying voltages and currents, depending on what is being deposited, I have required an array of power supplies, and I have tested all of them to give /actual/ full output (vice /rated/ full output) and run them at least overnight to get the temperature of the brick. This doesn't test them in the original capacity, but perhaps it's a bit better test, since I'm pushing them as hard as they can go? ... show more

  • Nice charger but major flaw of not being able to fully charge the scooter to 100%
I like this charger but there is a major flaw with it that is kind of hard to ignore but once it gets past 85% charging the charger has a hard time charging to 100% and charging rate drops down to less than 15 watts and eventually past 90% it drops down to zero watt charge rate and can not get it to fully charge my ZT3 all the way. The build feels good and durable, it also doesn’t get as hot as the OEM charger. I charge my ZT3 to 80% majority of the time so the fully charging problem doesn’t bother me and use this as a backup charger to my original. It’s a great charger but when the OEM charger is roughly the same price I could not really recommend this due to the charging problem. ... show more

  • Works just as well as the OEM charger!
I got this as a replacement charger for our Segway Ninebot MAX G3, and I’m really impressed with it. We actually own the OEM charger as well, so I was able to compare the two, and this one works just as well. It charges the scooter without any issues and performs just like the original. Definitely a good alternative if you need an extra charger or don’t want to pay for the OEM one. ... show more

  • Great spare ZT3 Pro charger
I got this as a spare charger for my Segway ZT3 Pro, and it worked perfectly right out of the box. As soon as I plugged it into the scooter it was recognized and started charging with no issues. Charging speed also seems comparable to the OEM Segway charger. The charger itself has a nice amount of weight to it and feels sturdy. That's something I like to see with higher-powered chargers, as I've had lightweight, flimsy chargers in the past that didn't hold up particularly well. The cord length is also just about perfect for my use and gives me enough room without leaving a ton of excess cable to deal with. During charging it gets warm, as you'd expect, but it hasn't gotten excessively hot. Between the sturdy construction, reasonable temperatures, and how it's performed so far, I don't have any concerns about the longevity of it. For me, the biggest benefit is having a spare that I can throw in a travel bag or leave at work while keeping the original Segway charger at home. Overall, it works exactly as I'd want it to and seems like a great option if you need an additional charger for a ZT3 Pro. ... show more

  • Okay charger
This is the equivalent of what Ninebot calls their Turbo Charger. It puts out a lot more power than the internal charger in my Max G3, so it can charge faster. But don't expect miracles if you want to use both the internal charger with an external, as Segway says you can do. It may knock off an hour, but it won't cut the charging time in half. This isn't a genuine Ninebot charger. It has the correct voltage and the correct connector, but it's aftermarket. Seems safe enough, but you have to decide whether you want to risk it. The internal circuitry in Ninebot scooters should protect the battery from overcharging even if this charger doesn't. ... show more

  • Fast and Reliable
Reliable, fast charger that fully charges my Segway F3 scooter in a little more than 2 hours. That’s significantly less than the original charger. The charger does heat up a bit, especially since it has been hot these past two days. The charger is bulky and heavy, but it adds juice very quickly. The cords and adapter are long and hold tightly to the scooter—no loose connections. ... show more
