  • Fun on fun
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
So far the games are all fun, we've played game after game and can't find an end to the fun. We are too competitive and if you are too this is worth the buy.

  • VERY ANNOYING MUSIC AND THE AI SOMETIMES CHEATS
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
I really wanted to give this product 5 stars, but I just can’t and all comes down to the fact that the music for the majority of these 51 games is not only unbelievably awful, what’s worse is you can’t turn the volume of the music down or off, which is incredibly irritating. Which is a shame because the sound effects of the games (like Billiards for example) are impressively realistic. Too bad you can’t hear them over the annoying music. I also can’t give it 5 stars because on a couple of the games, the computer AI appears programmed to cheat, even on the “Normal” (easy) skill level. This is not me being a poor loser after a game or two; this is after a scientific experiment of a run of dozens upon dozens of the same game, with eyewitnesses in the room acknowledging that it does appear to be that the CPU player is cheating. Take Darts for example. In Darts the computer will always get two or three Single-20s on its turn, or a Triple-20 or even a Double Bullseye. When playing Darts-301, if the computer gets behind it will suddenly get a run of 18/19/20, and if you are going to win on your next turn, just before you can take that turn the computer will suddenly score a double and win the game. This is in addition to the physical problem with Darts in that where you aim the joycon has no relevance to how your dart behaves on the screen; you can try for force the dart to go to the lower-left and it will hit the target at the upper-right, for example. The physics of the dart throw is completely unrealistic. Another game that appears programmed to cheat is Ludo (aka “parchisi”). Approximately 75% of the time, CPU player #3 will be the winner, which is statistically unlikely. The computer players will roll far more 6’s than you, and if they get too far behind they will suddenly start rolling double 6’s. And then there’s Slot Cars, in which the computer player hardly ever fishtails off the track, but you often do. There are a few games that almost play themselves and only require you to sit there repeatedly clicking the “A” button on the joycon to continue playing, since there’s only one move you can possibly make. And there are a few others that are so hard (even on easy setting) that they appear to be practically unwinnable. Also, there are some games here (like Golf and Bowling) that have better versions on other platforms, like Wii-U “Sports Resort.” On the other hand, the Shooting Gallery here is much better than the one on “Go Vacation.” Here is a complete list of the 51 games: Mancala, Dots and Boxes, Yacht Dice (aka “Yahtzee”), Four in a Row (aka “Connect 4”), Hit and Blow (aka “Mastermind”), 9 Men’s Morris, Hex, Checkers, Hare and Hounds, Gomoku, Dominoes, Chinese Checkers, Ludo, Backgammon, Renegade (aka “Othello” or “Reversi”), Chess, Shogi, Mini Shogi, Hanafuda, Riichi Mahjong, Last Card (aka “Uno”), Blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em, President, Sevens, Speed (which is ironically played in slow motion, to compensate for the motion of the joycons), Matching (aka “Concentration”), War (although not using any rules that I’ve ever played with), Takoyaki, Pig’s Tail, Golf, Billiards, Bowling, Darts, Carrom, Toy Tennis, Toy Soccer, Toy Curling, Toy Boxing, Toy Baseball, Air Hockey, Slot Cars, Fishing, Battle Tanks, Team Tanks, Shooting Gallery, Six-Ball Puzzle, Sliding Puzzle, Mahjong Solitaire, Klondike Solitaire, and Spider Solitaire. There’s also a 52nd game, “Piano,” which is just a single octave of eight piano keys, from middle C to high C, with the five minor keys in between, but you can only play this on the Switch’s built-in screen; it won’t work if the Switch is projecting to your TV. You’ll probably get a good 5 or 6 seconds of enjoyment out of this “bonus game.” Finally, I have to mention the cutscenes that begin each game when you select them. The games are presented by a set of annoying, waggling plastic figurines with irritating personalities and cheesy dialogue. Fortunately, you can skip all of these with the “X” button on the joycon. So, bottom line, with all of these problems why am I still giving it 4 stars? Because out of these 51 games, you’re going to find a couple that you absolutely love and become addicted to and will enjoy playing over and over and over again, making it well worth the price. Just be prepared to play it with the sound turned down low. If you could turn the music off and leave the sound effects on, this would easily be a 5-star game. ... show more

Our family has had so much fun with this game. Everyone has a different favorite.
