I am not new to using food grade buckets. During the early days of COVID, we purchased large quantities of oats, rice, flour, and beans to keep on hand as foods were difficult to find. I purchased mine from a big box hardware store, and never had any problem snapping the lids on, and my food stayed dry and secure. However, THIS food storage bucket is a different story. Yes, it's nice quality, sturdy, and is a pretty shade of blue, unlike my plain white buckets. But the lid on this thing is a bear! I'm not a 20 lb. weakling! I work out with weights regularly, but I could not for the life of me push the lid down on this thing. I noticed on the top of the lid some writing and discovered that you're supposed to push this tab in and pull off a ring of plastic. That could only be done with a pair of pliers as I could not pull the plastic ring off by hand. And still, after doing that, the lid would not snap, twist, or in any other way go on. I finally had to come here to the product page to look at other reviews to see if anyone mentioned any problems with the lid. What I saw was people mentioning the nice, tight, secure lid, and I thought, "How in the world did they get it on to say how secure it is?!" Then I saw someone mention having to sit on the lid to get it on. That was the one thing I hadn't tried. So I sat on it and pushed down on the edges with my hands. It took my full strength and constantly turning the bucket to get every edge locked down into place. And I do mean locked down. I don't know if that lid is ever coming off again! So, secure? Yes. Locked in Fort Knox secure. Nothing is going in or coming out. And if I ever manage to get the lid off again to actually put something in it, I'll know it's going to be stay in there. But it won't be easy to take it on and off for regular use, so I'll want to use it for something that I want to keep stored for a long time, not for something that I want to buy large quantities of and use regularly, cuz unless I get bigger muscles, there will be no "regular" about taking that lid on and off! ... show more

We've been using this bucket to carry baseballs to and from the fields. So it's sturdy. I also like to cop a squat on it; I haven't had any issues with bending or breaking yet. And it's an awesome shade of blue!
