  • Works perfectly driving 5/8" copper rod. Love it.
I am installing a large solar power system on my property and was tired of driving grounding and tether rods 7' or more into clay soil with a sledgehammer. I have a 36v DeWalt slotted drive hammer drill so I got this driver to help install the rest of the rods I need. Man, I'm happy I did. This works great at driving 5/8" diameter 8' long copper rod quickly and with minimal effort. Really, all I had to do was carry a step ladder with me to get me up high enough to exert some mechanical advantage with the drill and it did the rest. SO much easier and faster than sledging the rods in. At around $15, it's well worth the money in the time and physical effort saved. It's made of steel (can't tell which alloy) which will probably corrode a little if not kept clean and dry, but you could cheaply paint it or just lightly spray with an oil protectant after use and hang it up on the tool bench. Should last a lifetime. I'm thoroughly pleased with it. ... show more

  • A real heavy duty tool that saves time and effort and solves a problem. I like it a lot.
The hammer drill makes it so much easier!!! I've installed ground rods in the past with a sledge and some poor person who has to hold it up. It's a pain and it takes a long time, and it's tiring. This little thing fits on the end of the hammer and then fits over the grounding rod and you just blast it into the soil. It works great. It's so much faster and easier. I didn't curse at all! I can honestly call this "heavy duty". It's physically heavy and it shows no wear despite us driving 8 rods. I think it will last a lifetime. I don't know about rust but if it's dry, it should be there for the kids. ... show more
