The media could not be loaded. I recently had the opportunity to test out an underwater camera made by GILAYGROWin advance of a trip to the beach. I was able to test it in a controlled sink environment at home, a chlorinated pool, and the Atlantic ocean. Pros: Excellent Image Quality: The camera captures stunning above ground and underwater photos with vibrant colors and sharp details. The feedback for taking photos had a comfortable delay that reminds me of the digital cameras I grew up with. Durability: It's definitely waterproof. I did not take it deeper than 8 feet. User-Friendly Interface: The menu system is straightforward and, mostly, easy to navigate without a learning curve that requires holding onto the instruction manual. Battery Life: The life is great on the two rechargeable batteries. The open/close mechanism is slightly tricky to maneuver when first encountered. The manufacturer explains the process in depth and it easily became second nature for my hands. DO make sure that you have q-tips if you are in a sandy/salty environment to make sure that you get any would-be sand out of the seal before you resecure it. Versatility: Various modes, did everything I expected it to do for a short-range camera. Front Screen Resolution: The front screen resolution is fantastic, making underwater selfies easier than ever. I wish my phone had this feature! Neck Strap and Floating Design: It comes with a neck strap and floats, making it very hard to lose. This is a great feature for peace of mind during dives. Cons: Price: The price has reduced since my purchase, I think this is appropriate given the use of dated USB technology. This is compensated for with the inclusion of a 64gb SD card which would be another ~$15 that I'd have to shop for anyway. So really, it's current listing of $80 seems market appropriate. Limited Zoom: The zoom capability is somewhat limited, but for a depth rating for casual snorkeling, this is not something that even approaches being a deal breaker nor a regret. Weight: It is a bit heavier than expected, which can be cumbersome during long water sessions, but man this sucker floats which serves as a built in reassurance for me. Accessories: I would have loved to have a protective case for it to make sure that it's shock-tolerant. More on this next. Material Durability: Although it has an excellent seal, the material isn’t designed for rough handling. It will remain waterproof but should be handled with care. Condensation Issue: The model I purchased had an internal water-vapor condensation problem from what appears to be manufacturing. When transitioned from warmer air to cooler water, it fogged internally, making underwater photography impossible. There are some photos to review what I'm talking about here. Overall, it's a great choice for casual trips. Had I gone somewhere with a shallow reef or spear-fishing I would have loved to have it. It really thrives in environments where the temperature transition from air to water is relatively negligible and I'll be taking it to the lake this afternoon. I'm confident that I'll get a good amount of use out of it before I have to shop for a replacement. UPDATE; hands-down the best feature of this camera is the customer service. I just received an e-mail today (one month after my issue with the lens fogging happened, mostly my delay in responding to e-mails) that I'll be receiving a replacement camera in the mail. The representative will be updating the manufacturer about the problem so here's hoping that future versions make my observation irrelevant. UPDATE 2; Much better experience this time around. This thing will be in my vacation arsenal for the kids for the next decade ... show more

    • Menu locks up camera

It is thick and heavy but other than that at first it seemed nice but after about a week of use none of the menu settings will work and when I try to exit it locks up and the menu that your on freezes up and you have to power off to reset it. When I was able to take photos they are Jpeg Format and look nice and on video the image and sound is good but the video files are unlike any camera that I've ever had ad are in AVI Format so to view them on my PC or phone I have to convert them to MP4 and that's a big hassle so I will be returning this defective camera ... show more

This camera is a perfect size for a youth hand. The color reminds me of the old FORD vehicle blue, it stands out nicely Incase kids leaves behind. We are thankful for the option to have a lanyard or wrist strap, 2 batteries and a carry case. It lasted so far in the swimming pool with boys for 6 hours with no issues or water damage. The screen has tile app like options that are kid friendly and to be honest the kids figured it out quicker than the adults. We really like the selfie button, which has a full color screen on the front of the camera to allow you to see yourselves before expose. The uploading of images to the laptop was standard process. Comes with everything you need, see photo of all parts.
