    • Quality issues
The shelf was not hard to assembly, but one screw did not go in because the pre-drill hole is misaligned. One screw is not a deal-breaker to send the big box back, and I'm also being lazy about it. Another quality issue is the wood vinyl along the edge of the shelf is not flushed. If you're not careful when placing items or running your hand along the edge of the shelf, the wood vinyl will pull away from the "wood". ... show more

So, the shelf is easy enough to assemble. Problem is that the actual frame is devided into two sections so that it can fit into a smaller shipping box. There is a joint that is pre-drilled and threaded.......and one side was off by an inch. Meaning......I couldn't put hardware in one side of the main frame. The holes were off enough to where you couldn't even drill new holes. Well.....by the time you get to that point in the assembly, everything is out of the box. Shipping took longer than expected, so we didn't want to go thru the return process. Very lame considering the price. Disappointed. ... show more

Bookshelf matches listing. Fairly sturdy when shaken, but not 100 percent immobile. Color/striations of the “wood grain” pattern wasn’t as expected, but not terrible. The metal posts/supports are helpful as you can rest books directly against it rather than needing a bookend. Got tons of compliments and would recommend. ... show more

I read a number of reviews on this where some described poor packaging or difficult to assemble. I experienced neither and am very happy with my purchase of the 5-tier bookshelf. The package arrived with zero damage and it was well packed in the box. No scratches or blemishes in any way. Assembly was easy with the provided tools. It does take about 45 minutes to assemble but the parts were all there (with a few extras) and the instructions are straightforward. I will say that alignment is tight, which helps add to the stability of the structure. I intentionally left screws a little loose until I had added each full shelf with all screws started. Then I tightened everything before moving on to the next shelf. With one particular shelf, I found I had to loosen the cross braces slightly to get the screws started. After the shelf was tightened, I retightened the cross braces. Zero issues and very solid structure. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and feel it's a good value for the money. If I need a smaller unit, I'm definitely picking up the 4 or 3 shelf model. ... show more

The shelf is very sturdy. I bought it for my plant lab. Large capacity and generous space between shelves for taller items. It went together in about 15 minutes with no alignment or hardware issues. While not a direct issue with the shelves themselves, you'll want to note if you have baseboards that butt out a lot. In the pictures it look like the bookcase is snug next to wall, in my apt the baseboards come out quite a bit causing space between the wall and shelves, so if things lean back or shift, then fall down. The packing around my unit was probably mos of the money spent! This thing is packaged like a tank and while the box may be dinged up, rest assured the shelves will not be. I am very happy with this product and look forward to using it for several years to come. ... show more
