I've purchased 2 sets of the twin black packages, assembled and use the 18 gallon totes on them so instead of stacking totes and waiting for them to cave in, I'm storing vertically on the shelving units. They've been up and in use for more than a year now. I store them long side to long side, side by side to save space. When I want something, I pull one shelving unit out from the bunch, get the tote I want. Simple, effective use of storage space along one wall of the garage. I work out of state often a 1000 plus miles out for months at a time so I need my "boom out" clothes set aside and stored ready to go into the truck. Winter, summer, FR rated... All in totes, all on one shelving unit I can move to the back of my truck to pack/unpack. Again, simplifying my moving stuff around and having a place to put the stuff when I get back home. My wife liked the idea so much I had to buy another set, she's got 2 of her own now, and again, using totes to keep stuff safe, dry, organized on the shelves. That said, these things are super easy to assemble, sturdy enough to hold 300 plus pounds (2 totes side by side fill a shelf, so unlikely you'll overload it for everyday storage use). You can easily custom fit the shelves to any height. Read the direction, take your time on the first one and you'll find that second one done in minutes. I start with 4 legs, put in the wheels, put the bottom shelf in, stand it upright and work upwards. Use a tape measure and some tape to mark your shelf heights. I assembled one about a week ago, from box on the floor to putting a tote on it, took me maybe 15 minutes. I love this product. Worth every penny. ... show more

Five stars but heads up. The wire shelves have a ledge around the edges forming sort of a basket over an inch deep. This basket does NOT point up it points down. If it pointed up then things would not slide on and off the shelf as easy. In other words the things on the shelves would be more secure. But the ledge (basket) points down. On the other hand it is easier to place and remove things on the shelves as they just slide straight onto the shelves without having to lift them up over the ledge around the border of the shelves. This is designed to be that way. Not a mistake. The instruction sheet clearly says and shows them to be that way. We have seven of these wire shelves in various rooms of our house and garage. They were from five different companies, different brands in other words. In three the ledge points up. And in four the ledge points down. So these shelves come in both configurations depending on which you buy. There is NO way to change this. If you turned the shelf upside down then the shelves would be held by supports that taper narrower on the bottom. In other words the shelves would fall down if overweight or bumped hard. So you have to have the shelves being held by supports (the black plastic things that snap together) which taper larger on the bottom. This absolutely positively holds the shelves from slipping downward. All of these wire shelving units are solid and sturdy. So you have to decide which of the two systems you want to buy. Ask questions, that's what Amazon gives you the opportunity to do before purchase. This shelf holds 250 pounds EACH shelf. That is considered standard duty. There are some shelves on Amazon and elsewhere that will hold 800 pounds on each shelf. Those are REALLY sturdy (and more expensive). Instructions are good, assembly is fast. HInt: get a rubber mallet, one with a heavy head to pound the shelves down onto the supports. It will not damage wire shelves when struck by a rubber mallet, even a heavy one. Look for a 2 pound head mallet. They are cheap and have a million uses around any home or apartment from time to time. You will not need any other tools (although a tape measure helps to make sure you putting all four supports for each shelf at the same height without counting up nineteen grooves each support or whatever which will do the same thing. This came in a good time frame. It was well packaged so the parts didn't get banged up until I got my clumsy hands on it. Props to the the manufacturer for some of the best, wire shelf packaging I've seen. These shelves feel lightweight but, once assembled, have some oomph in them. They can hold some weight. I can move the shelf easily, assembled or unassembled. I found this easier to assemble them some reviewers let on. I started with the bottom post sections and got 2 shelves set before I added the top post sections and shelves. This was a little taller than I wanted for the space but adjustable shelving is adjustable for a reason. This is my plant shelf because the lighting and heat where I live stinks. This replaced a smaller, similar shelf. I now can keep my plant hoarde and supplies in one place. I will eventually get a humidifier that fits nicely on it and try to work a shower curtain into a "greenhouse" to protect my orchids from the variable, indoor temps. (We lost power for 3 hours last night because of snow.) The posts come in two pieces, clearly marked top and bottom. There are adjustable feet on the bottom pieces. Top pieces have a nice cap to make them look finished. Posts are marked with one inch increments. The black, plastic, shelf "stops" will click into the ridges and they send you an extra set. The price, with shipping, was half the price of what I can find at my local stores. For me, this was the right shelf at the right price. My plants have more room to grow and I finally have them all away from the low light, cold windows. ... show more
