The nylon jaws are made of very dense, well machined nylon with magnets that are screwed and molded into the jaws. They are true to each other, aligning perfectly when dropped into my vise. The magnets hold them securely to my vise's jaws. My vise is 5 inches wide and these jaws are only 4 inches but that doesn't impact their utility much. Excellent magnetic vise jaw pads. Precision machined from aluminum, very nice finish, and uses strong magnets. I actually feel bad using them for jobs because they are so nice compared to the beater vise I put them into. But they do a great job holding objects - especially round things like pipes. When not in use, the vise jaw pads can be stuck together to form a single block for storage. They are so well machined that they actually look like a single piece of metal when stuck together.
