These are so much fun, the frog and the cricket sound the best but the pig isn't bad. How you hold it depends which way you run the wooden mallet to make it sound the best while playing the wooden critter. I am enjoying these and it reminds me of the wooden music toy I used to play with as a child. It will take a little practice to get perfect but I am very happy.

I had a smaller frog bought from a festival many moons ago. It sadly was destroyed when my home was totaled by a freak accident. When I saw these I knew I had to order them. They work the way I remember. Using the wooden rod to rub the ridges to create sounds is soothing. You can try different angles to produce a variety of sounds. I find it a tad odd that the pig has holes on the sides and on his derriere. The frog is my favorite but the cricket runs a close second. When they aren't being played with they look nice on my bookshelf.
