Description

Gamblin Stand Oil is polymerized refined linseed oil produced from North American flax seeds. After linseed oil has been refined by neutralizing the free acidity, it is heated in a vacuum until it thickens. Stand Oil Leaves an enamel like finish. Adding oily Stand Oil increases the tendency of oil paintings to wrinkle (alligator), and slows down the drying time. High viscosity and moderate dry. A heat-bodied, heavy oil that leaves an enamel- like finish. 8 oz.

Fast delivery (as usual) and the product seems to work great, although this is the first time I have ever used it. Need it to add 1 part stand oil and 4 parts paint thinner to "oil out" a painting.

As an oil painter, I love this stuff. So smooth. It is making my water reflections look beautiful. I tried boiled linseed oil from Home Depot and was not too happy. It was better “value”, but the truth is you don’t need a big bottle of this stuff, it goes a long way. Buy the good stuff. Also, the bottle does not seem to leak! ... show more

    • Stand oil is not for beginners
I mixed it with turps for a finish on cedar. It went on thin and smooth, took 4-5 days to dry between coats, and brought out the cedar's natural red tones beautifully.

    • Mark Carder Slow Dry Medium Ingredient
Slow as Molasses in January. This is another ingredient in the Mark Carder Slow Dry Medium formula. Works great for "leveling" paint strokes. Adds greatly to drying time for oils. Not for Acrylics.
