πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The 3M Gloss Blue Fire Vinyl Wrap seems to be highly appreciated by most consumers due to its high-quality finish and vibrant color. Users noted that the quality of 3M wraps, in general, is superior, with the 2080 model featuring a very thin, flexible protective overlay, making it durable and workable. It's DIY-friendly, but meticulous and time-consuming, taking up to 30 hours for a midsize sedan by an inexperienced wrapper. The product is deemed to be well worth the investment, as it offers a fresh new look mimicking a high-quality paint job at a reduced cost. Additionally, it was praised for being forgiving during the application process, damage-resistant, and having great adhesion.

Pros

  • πŸš— High-quality finish and vibrant color
  • ✨ Comes with protective overlay for increased durability and protection
  • πŸ’ͺ Forgiving during the application process and durable against damages
  • πŸ‘Œ Ideal even for first-time wrappers
  • πŸ“ Highly workable and has an excellent adhesion

Cons

  • ⏰ Can be time-consuming to apply, requires patience and careful handling
  • πŸ’° Some consumers felt the high-quality wrap was expensive
  • ⚠️ Instructions for the 2080 film may be lacking
  • πŸ”„ Changing between 1080 and 2080 could result in a noticeable difference in glossiness

Should I Buy It?

Definitely, if you're after a quality product. The 3M Vinyl Wrap gives a striking new look to your car, rivalling a professional paint job at a fraction of the cost. Although it can be time-consuming to apply and slightly more expensive than other wraps, it’s forgiving for first-timers making it a great DIY car improvement project.

  • Absolutely Stunning Look and Finish
Size: 5ft x 20ft W/ Application Card Color: Gloss Blue Fire
I can't recommend this enough!!! The wrap came out incredibly beautiful on my car. I purchased 3M Gloss Blue Fire, and I was going for a color similar to Bayside Blue, from Nissan's famous R34 GTR. I have never seen one in real life, so I don't know if it is comparable at all, but i've fallen in love with the color. It has a very bright light blue shine in the daytime that the pictures don't show very well, and it turns to a much darker blue during the night when the highlights and reflections are not as visible. It has a great reflection that is comparable to a high quality paint job on a brand new car, and sparkles a lot. As for the actual wrapping process, you definitely have to consider whether you want to wrap this yourself or not. The car in the photos is a 2012 Honda Accord, a Midsize Sedan, and this was my first time wrapping ANYTHING. Overall, it took approximately 30 hours doing it by myself in my driveway. Originally I purchased a 5ft x 12 ft roll, because I read somewhere that the car required about 60 ft of wrap. Obviously they meant a 60 ft roll, not 60 square feet, so I ended up spending way more than I originally thought. You definitely have to value your time with this, while it is fun I'm not sure I would want to do this all again. It took me about 3 weekends to finish everything. The 30 Hours of wrapping do not include disassembling the car and prepping / cleaning. The material is extremely forgiving, you can push it quite a bit before it starts becoming damaged and losing its adhesive. The air release technology is a life saver, it slowly lets go of any air that gets trapped in the wrap. I had a couple of incidents where after having wrapped an entire section of the car, I found a spot that I did not fully squeegee and left air bubbles. For comparison, I finished wrapping the hood about a month before I wrapped the rest of the car, and 2 months later there are still air bubbles there from my amateur wrap. I don't think my money was wasted on this purchase. For those considering wrapping their cars, I highly recommend getting something from 3M. It's not worth cheaping out on something as major as the car's color, especially when you're going to be wearing it for the next 2-3 years. In total, this cost me about $1000, + $25 for the squeegee / blades / magnets. ... show more

  • Even better than 3M 1080
Size: 5ft x 1ft W/ Application Card Color: Gloss Black
The 2080 is the new version of the 3M 1080 wrap. You still have the workability of the previous 3M wrap, with one improvement. There is an incredibly thin, very flexible protective overlay that keeps your finish pristine until you are ready to pull it off. The additional layer heats and stretches exactly the same as the wrap itself, then peels away cleanly. I used it for side scoops that I just couldn’t get the paint right on, and I will never attempt to paint anything again. ... show more

  • Good vinyl, poor listing and poor instructions
Size: 5ft x 1ft W/ Application Card Color: Gloss Black
Rvinyl needs to update both their item listing and their instructions for the 2080 film. The 3M Wrap Film 2080 vinyl has a thin, protective, plastic film on it that must be removed once you initially lay it down. I didn't know this either since I was use to the 1080 version which doesn't have the protective film. This item listing shows images with the 1080 model, which is wrong. The listing title is correct. That should have been changing by Rvinyl, as it's a bad oversight. I ordered based on the images. At first, I ended up wasting an entire section of a sheet (I cut this item in 3 equal parts) because I thought there was an issue with the vinyl itself. When I went to smooth it out, according to Rvinyl's printed instructions, the vinyl started to have surface tears. I removed that sheet and threw it away, thinking the 2080 was defective or this piece of vinyl was defective. But then the second sheet had the same issue. After playing with a small piece of scrap, I discovered that the 2080 comes with a thin, protective, plastic film on top, and that film was tearing when smoothing the vinyl. The biggest issue is that Rvinyl's instructions do not mention having to remote this protective film. They never bothered updating their instructions when switching from 1080 to 2080. The other big issue is that the 2080 gloss black is a little more glossy than the 1080 gloss black. So I did most of my work with the 1080 stuff, and had two sections leftover to do with this 2080 product I ordered. That's not Rvinyl's fault, but it is worth noting. It's not horribly different, but it is noticeable. If Rvinyl showed 2080 instead of 1080 in their images, I would have looked elsewhere for the 1080 vinyl. All of this is Rvinyl's fault for not updating things when they switched to 2080. So if you're new to vinyl, keep all of this in mind, or order from another seller of 3M vinyl that has better instructions. ... show more

  • Really fantastic product
Size: 5ft x 6ft W/ Application Card Color: Gloss Black
The 3M 1080 series is the real deal. Due to tesla's thin/soft paint, I had a ton of rock chips all over my hood. Instead of respraying, I wanted to see how close 3M's gloss black wrap would match the factory back paint on my Model 3. I'm extremely happy with it. This was my first time applying vinyl wrap, and it took me less than 2hrs to do the hood by myself. It looks like the factory fresh paint! And, if it ever does get damaged, I can just peel it off and reapply for less than $100. Amazing. Thinking about doing my front bumper as well. ... show more

  • Easy to install
Size: 5ft x 1ft W/ Application Card Color: Gloss Black
I like this wrap better than the Vvivid gloss black wrap. It doesn't attract dust and easier to install. I used this to wrap the door handles of my white Acura. I also appreciate RVinyl's willingness to help their customers.

  • Vinyl wrap your Chevy bowties
Size: 5ft x 1ft W/ Application Card Color: Gloss Black
I bought this to vinyl wrap my Chevy bowtie emblems on the front and rear of my Silverado. It works well just know that there is a thin protective layer of plastic sheeting that you can peel off after you use the enclosed card to form the vinyl while using the heat gun. It looks great and much easier that plastidip or replacing the emblems themselves. ... show more

  • Very easy to work with, nice glossy finish.
Size: 5ft x 1ft W/ Application Card Color: Gloss Black
The air channels in the vinyl make it really easy to align and work into position without any soap/water making a mess. Once the vinyl is in place just firmly press it or use a heat gun and adhesion is great. I bought this as a windshield banner but messed up my calculations so I cut it up and wrapped the chrome for handles and chrome fuel door for my 2005 Mini. This vinyl works great with heat and stretches easily and evenly. I'll be ordering more! ... show more
