  • linear rails for Z axis

  • Seems good so far
Style: 3D Printer Z-Axis Linear Guide Upgrade Kit
I was able to get the rails installed fairly easily using the video instructions on the item's listing page, though it would have been nice if they included instructions in the box to show what screws go where. One star removed for it not including a guide to use to keep the rails aligned while installing them onto the frame of the machine. I had to use a combination of eyeballing it and order-of-operations when tightening the blocks to the slider bits so that it would keep everything aligned. I did this after watching a few YouTube videos showing how to install other linear rails. For the price, though, I can't knock it. Everything seems to be made of high quality materials, and they include extra hardware which I appreciate. ... show more

  • Interesting Design but has Major Flaws
Style: 3D Printer Z-Axis Linear Guide Upgrade Kit
The Z axis linear rail system for the ender 3 is undoubtedly an interesting design. However, the rail size and bearing choice leave much to be desired. Even when the screws are tightened all the way down, the rails for the MGN9H do not sit tight on the 4020 aluminum extrusion; meaning his allows the rail to move up and down slightly, about .05". This also means that the rail is not sitting flat on the aluminum extrusion, so it becomes difficult to maintain parallelism for the rails and perpendicularity for the rails in relation to the bed. This means your Z axis will bind as it moves and it will be a huge pain to get it to work correctly. The carriage blocks also are not the best quality so the bearing will bind as they move. If the design is made to implement the MGN12 carriage and equivalent rail size, I do not doubt that this would be a great choice for an upgrade. However, I do not recommend it as it is right now. ... show more

  • Z Rails are Hot Trash!
Style: 3D Printer Z-Axis Linear Guide Upgrade Kit
Wouldn't wish this Z linear rail kit on my worst enemy... unless his name was Carl. Like other posts have said the rails didnt move smoothly out of the box. Thinking some high quality grease would take care of it I decided to give it a go. I followed the video guide to a tee and after getting it all assembled, I greased what I could of the rails. I then homed all 3 axis and greased the remainder of the rails. I tried to move my gantry up to its max and around 100 mm, the motors started to skip steps. I loosened all the screws on the silver guide blocks, along with the screws on the rails and even the 4 big black bolts at the top of my frame, just to see if I could get this thing to move smoothly. Nothing worked. I used calipers to center the rails in the exteusions so I know its not an alignment issue. Not sure what to do here. I would ask for my money back and new rails but not sure it's worth it. This was already a one day process and not sure I want to go through it all again just to have the same result. @theseller, contact me if you want to. I'd like my money back but will not be sending this product back, unless you send me something that is known to work. ... show more

  • Alright, not the smoothest
Style: 3D Printer Z-Axis Linear Guide Upgrade Kit
Install was easy, with good tutorial video in the product page. Not rails are not super smooth. Please note, the oil on the rails are to be removed prior to installing. They are applied in factory to prevent rust, you will have to lubricate it yourself.

  • Amazing Upgrade
Style: 3D Printer Z-Axis Linear Guide Upgrade Kit
Only thing about this install I did not like, was how they attach. The t-nuts that slide in the rails, are very cheap. For $8 on Amazon buy M3 Roll In Spring Nuts for 2020 Series Aluminum Extrusion (6mm rail slot) aside from that, very good product.
