Bought this to separate the rock filler from the fire pit glass, and it worked perfectly! I did need to cut a small hole to fish the gas connector into the fire ring — super easy DIY project. The mat is the perfect size, well made, and seems very durable (only time will tell, of course). It looks great and does exactly what I needed it to do. Works great. I have fake grass that melts when I use my fire pit but this has made a huge difference in keeping the heat away from the grass (don’t mind the leaves on the mat in the picture we have a tree in our yard)

Does its job as an additional protective barrier between my Trex deck and Solostove. I have the stand, so I shouldn’t really need it, but it’s nice peace of mind. My only issue is that the edges curl up a bit and hold onto excess water if it rains. Not a big deal, especially since the solostove and stand are stainless/corrosion resistant, but it can be a bit annoying and get dirty.

The description states that it would protect decks, grass etc. There is no way this is possible. After one use with a smokeless style aluminum fire pit, we could smell the noxious fumes burning off of the "2000 degree silicone" coating. We used it on a camp site and the desire was to not damage the area of setup. The dead leaves under the matt were absolutely scorched, to the point of being near charcoal. The fiberglass, woven portion of the matt maintained integrity but every bit of heat from the pit was transferred to the ground's surface below. This is really disappointing because it is the only reason to purchase an item like this. Do not trust this to protect a deck surface from heat transfer... your pit will absolutely roast the wood or deck material it is upon. In the photos, you can see where the plastic burned completely off to leave just the fiberglass. The leaves were scorched beneath this area, actually smoking from beneath the matt, but I did not take a picture of the scorched area. This is not the matt you want for purpose of protecting the area beneath your fire pit.
