  • Great for Hobbyists
Style: 24 Piece
If you are a beginning hobbyists, this set is perfect. The good thing about this set is the number of bits you get for the price. This allows you to try many types of bits to figure out what you will use most often. Then you can buy the more expensive/better quality individual bits that know will be consistently used for your projects later. I am just starting in woodworking and have already used a number of these bits for several projects. I have most used the straight bits and flush trim bit. I guess I worked the flush trim bit too hard, because I have already had to replace it due to bearing coming loose. The individual replacement flush trim bit cost more than this entire set, but I had already used the flush trim bit for several projects and knew I would get enough use from it to justify the cost. Just know you get what you pay for with this set. ... show more

  • Great Starter Bit Set
Style: 24 Piece
Great purchase if you are unsure which router bits you will be using. Once you use one of the Bits longer enough to notice you know its time to buy the expensive version of that specific bit.

  • This was a great selection of router bits for a great price
Style: 24 Piece
This was a great selection of router bits for a great price. The bits worked well right out of the box. I used them in a Factory-Reconditioned Skil 1817-RT 1-3/4 HP Fixed-Base Router with Soft Start. My tests were done on maple and oak. The carrying case that the bits came in was also an unexpectedly nice touch to the set over all. Pros: *Sharp and ready to use right out of the box *Good variety of bits for the cost *Nice wooden carrying case Cons: *None Additional Considerations: Be aware that certain routers are able to take certain bit sizes. These are the smaller end of the range so most any router should be able to support them at RPM. Overall: 5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 stars If you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible. ... show more

  • Good bits, Bad Case
Style: 24 Piece
This is a solid set of router bits, my one criticism is the cheapness of the case itself. The bits do their job well and I've used them on a variety of projects ahead of writing this review. The case is absolute junk though, it's made of very cheap wood with weak fasteners. It arrived with bits loose from the retainers holding them separating from the case. The case survived all of about 3 open and close cycles before one of the hinges pulled out of the wood on the bottom, and could not be reattached. I finally removed the top before it broke completely off and now the bottom sits in a drawer of my tool chest. Bottom line: the bits are good, but get another case if you plan to be on the go. ... show more

  • BAD MOMENT - AND FOLLOW UP
Style: 24 Piece
I purchased the Trademark Carbide 24-piece router bit set on January 28, 2012. I received it promptly and in excellent conditions. Yesterday, July 7, 2012 was the first chance I got to use any of these router bits. I was using the half inch Flush Trim Bit to remove excess material on two pieces approximately 84 linear inches each. I was trimming from 1/16-inch to 1/8-inch of excess material from these two pieces of 1/2" boards. Shortly after half way on the second piece, at approximately 48 linear inches, I noticed something strange--a quick slip. I stopped the router and noticed I had damaged over one inch of material. I wandered what I may have done wrong; then I looked at the trim bit and noticed the bearing was missing. I do not know what could have gone wrong because this was a simple operation. I was purposely taking my time to avoid rushing, excess heat or burning the material. Everything was going well until the slip which happened so quickly that it damaged my work piece. For a moment, I thought its retaining screw may have come lose; but that was not the case. The retaining screw was still intact. This is not supposed to happen to bearings on router bits as these are merely guides. There were no measurement errors as the bearing was clearly and properly against the template. There is no way of knowing if this particular flush trim bit was already faulty because all 24 pieces appear well built. I just wanted to let other users know what happened to this flush trim bit. Follow-up. I increased my rating to 4 stars because I believe experience (or lack of it) might be the reason for these mishaps. Yesterday, October 14, 2012; the bearing guides on two more bits broke off. I was working on pine pieces; but it was a more ambitious cut than my previous experience. However, since I experienced this problem before, I managed to quickly stop the router without causing too much damage to the material. I made some adjustments and saved the work piece. I am by no means a professional or an expert; and I attribute these mishaps to my lack of experience in using the router; and not necessarily on the quality of these router bits. I am certain that with practice (less rushing and multiple shallow passes before the final pass) one should be able to get the most out of these router bits. DO NOT DESPAIR if the bearing guides of your favorite router bits are broken. If the router bits were not damaged in the process, you can always use the bearing guide of another router bit used less frequently by removing and installing it with the enclosed Allen Wrench. Do not overtight and make sure the bearing guide moves freely. It would be nice if these sets of router bits would come with extra bearing guides (wishful thinking). ... show more
