  • Quality product
The 15" ThrwClub hachet is a great product. It is light weight and it has a solid wood handle that is very comfortable in the hand. It also has a solid steel blade that is very sharp. It includes a leather sheath and a sharpening stone. A nice product for the money.

  • Good quality Ax for throwing.
My wife and I picked up the throwing ax hobby, and have a good bit of them. This one is very high quality. I appreciated the included sharpening and honing stone as well. I was able to use the stone to get it extremely sharp. The handle design is very comfortable as well. I also plan to use it for gathering firewood this coming winter, and I'm sure it will work great for that too. ... show more

  • Sharp, Sturdy, and Well-Balanced!
Great hatchet for splitting wood! The sharp carbon steel blade cuts well, and the beech wood handle feels solid and comfortable. Well-balanced and easy to use, plus the leather sheath is a nice bonus. Perfect for camping or backyard work!

It’s good a good weight to it. Feels good when you hold it. The sharpening stone is included as well as the leather blade guard. I will use it to go camping.

  • This is a significant hatchet
This is a serious hatchet. Well-weighted, well-balanced, well-made. I have shoulder issues, so I have not put it to the test. While size-wise, it’s more of a camping hatchet than a tree-chopping axe, it’s a fine tool ready for action. One of the most important parts of a hatchet, given that it is typically used one-handed is the weight and balance. Too heavy or too light, and you’ll have issues. Poorly balanced and you’ll also have issues. While I have not used it, I think it is great on both fronts. The Blade: The blade arrives with a sharp cutting edge, and they provide a nice stone for further honing. That said, the blade is significant and strong, and thus, more robust files and even a grinder might be needed to really get a razor finish without working at it for an hour or more with the stone. The Poll, or the Butt, of the blade is squared off and can become a significant and powerful mallet in its own right. The toe and heel of the blade are beautifully pointed (well-angled), sharp out of the box, and symmetrical. The cheek of the blade (the side above the beard) has a bit of a wedge-like angle (running from a bit towards the butt) that likely will help log splitting. There's no lug of the axe (an extension that moves down the handle sides) that some designers feel provides greater strength. The Handle: The wooden handle has an old-style grain and finish that is immediately attractive, strong, and heavy enough to support the hatchet's head. The throat and belly of the handle are really beautifully angled so as to be ergonomic for two-handed use to amplify the strike force and allow for a great hold even if wet. The grain is straight up and down throughout the handle, and the handle is perfectly straight between the bit (cutting edge) and the entire handle (including the bottom). This handle has a more curved throat but a flatter belly. I really like the end-knob of the handle that allows for a really great grip. There is a significant shoulder (flair) on the top back of the handle, but that is placed below where it meets the head, so I’m not sure about its purpose (maybe for high-handhold stability). Mask: It comes with a blade protector sheath (Masks) made of leather with a snap. It seems good and likely to stay on well as it has no give once snapped, but it doesn’t have a strap to wrap around the back (but that doesn’t seem to be a problem). The leather is sealed so that the cutting edge will not protrude through the Mask. It is shipped with a light rubber mask as well. The EYE The handle is attached to the head through the eye with a circular metal wedge. This is the part that receives the most impact and is the part that always seems to need repairs soonest. They provide two more circular wedges should the first one come out (and get lost). While this might not solve the problems of a loose head over the long haul, the extra wedges may allow you to keep axing out in the field until you get home to make real repairs. Again, I have NOT taken this out and used it because I recovering from shoulder surgery (and the other shoulder is on the roster to be done next). So, when I finally do (and I'm itching to use this tool etc.), I'll update the review. I hope this helps. ... show more

  • Beautiful Axe But Handle Broke
Size: 34.3 Inch
This is a beautiful axe. I was exited to get it & put it to work & compare it to my Husqvarna, Fishers, & Husky. This axe splits great, feels good in my hands, & very good weight for splitting. On the fourth day of use, after about three & a half hours of use the handle split. So I received it on a Friday & it broke on a Monday. So I'm extremely disappointed. It didn't split by hitting the handle but a solid hit with the axe bit (head) into the log, see pics. I've been splitting for seventeen years without any mishaps or breaks, so I'm very disappointed. I would have given it a 5 but now a 2, & not sure if I'd buy it again. Follow Up 4/28/25 I received a reply from the seller & they were very willing to resolve the broken handle issue. Unfortunately I had already returned the axe & handle to Amazon, due to the difficulty I had trying to contact the seller thru Amazon. In addition the seller had to wait to contact me due to some logistics with Amazon. Amazon refunded me very quickly. I had already arranged to purchase another axe from Tuatahi. But I will increase their star from a 2 to a 3 because of their customer service. I still like the axe bit & it's sharpness, & function. It's a great price for a multi-function racing axe. ... show more

  • Axe head is very substantial, correct level of sharpness, nice polishing puck and sheath
In the interest of full disclosure, as a trusted and unbiased Amazon reviewer, I was able to request this product free of charge, except for having to pay tax on its fair market value. Nice hatchet. The axe had is very substantial. The overall length is considerably longer than another hatchet I had and measures about 15 1/2 inches. Has a wide blade for a hatchet - as it is out of the box seems to split small pieces of wood very easily and chisel away at bark on logs. The top of the axe head is flat so this can be used as a hammer. The handle has good length and an ergonomic design - you get very good leverage. The description indicates the handle is beech but with its rather large grain it has the appearance of oak. It is stained, made from a solid piece and has a nice flat finish It is not super sharp. It will not cut paper or skim the top of one of your nails. However, for an axe I think it is sharpened to the level it should be. Included is a nice sheath and a double sided sharpening puck. There are a number of YouTube videos you can watch if you are not familiar with using a puck for sharpening. For an axe blade this is what you want to use. ... show more
