Used one up to this review. The knots unwind. Constantly touching up the surface on my grinder to even up the wire. I have seen these type of wire wheels throw wire, but have never seen them unwind.

For the price, you get six of these. That's a great deal. For cleaning rust/paint off of metal, this is what I use, though I tend to use them a bit less on sheet metal, such as what's used on cabinets. But for angle iron, steel, wrought iron, or other metal that doesn't flex, these are heavy duty enough to get the job done, much better than your standard wire brushes. All wire discs/cups shed wire to some degree, so as others have noted, it's probably a good idea to wear at least eye protection, though I have to admit that I often don't. I have no idea who this company is, but these are as good wire cups as any, and the price is right. ... show more

I find that these 3 inch diameter twisted wire brushes are very useful both before and after welding since they are able to get into fairly tight corners to clean off rust or welding slag. These twisted wire brushes have greater abrasive power than non-twisted wire brushes. And in my experience they are less prone to throw off broken bristles than the other type and thus have a longer useful life. This smaller size also demands less from your angle grinder motor than larger twisted wire brushes while still performing their task very well.
