These are handy too have around the shop for occasional use. It saves me a lot of time, frustration and random, colorful words usually associated with trying to remove or reinstall hose clamps. The quality is OK for use every once in a while. It would not be a good choice for a professional mechanic as the sturdiness is questionable. Had to replace the oil cooler on my truck and was having a nightmare of a time reattaching the cooling hose, which was down in a barely accessible valley. After struggling for a long time, I ordered this tool after seeing it mentioned in a Youtube video. Very easy to use and I had the hose attached in less than a minute. The media could not be loaded. The ratchet function is essential to normal use of this tool. It arrived in a sealed bag and did not appear to have been used, but the ratchet teeth are mostly missing. I discovered this when I tried to remove an upper radiator hose. The amount of force required to compress the clamp is considerable. While I have much greater than average hand strength, even I needed to reposition my grip. The first time the ratchet worked. Then I compressed the clamp further, but I could not the the ratchet to hold. After trying to push the pawl in to the ratchet without success, I removed the tool and looked at it more closely. The ratchet is missing most of its teeth. It looks fine at first glance, but the part of the ratchet that actually engages the pawl is missing. This renders this tool useless. ... show more

These should be called heater hose clamp pliers. They do not open up far enough for radiator clamps. The photo shows a radiator clamp for a 2015 wrangler.
