These are nice! I use a 6kg crucible (these look like I can go one larger)(maybe) and the width of the closed handles makes it easy to pour. I couldn’t build them for this price! (My labor is expensive)

The media could not be loaded. Made out of light weight material, which is forgivable based on the price. The welds look like they are straight out of high school shop class. One of the ends is held on by a small bead of weld. The other side had slag hanging off which prevented the tong from grasping the crucible (until I filed it off). Clearly there is no QC because they just painted and shipped them. They did work, it has flex in it which is good for getting a good grip, but a little concerning at first. I'd say they are okay for light to medium usage. If the welds were good I would have kept them. 3.8 stars. Good not great. ... show more

This is supposed to make pouring from my 1and 3 kg crucibles easier than tongs. The one thing I wish they'd added was a retention tab so the crucible remains in place when halfway inverted. Also, the loop on both handles doesn't slide up and down, but is fixed, and therefore useless with any crucible smaller than 3 kg size. It's lightweight, but I'm not sure how long lastingly durable such lightweight metal will be. ... show more

These crucible tongs are perfect for the crucibles that I have used so far, any crucibles that are too big for these tongs may be too heavy for a single person to pour. I will probably buy another set in the future!

    • Perfect for pouring medium crucibles.
My biggest crucible is a 6KG and this holds it pretty well. This is more for pouring a crucible, not pulling it out of the furnace. I use a different tool to remove the crucible and then this to pour it. Best tool I could find without spending big.
