This panel is a bit larger than expected....but only because I read the information incorrectly(!) The outside 'surround' is just under 14" by 14" inches, while the interior/opening is just shy of 12". It's a bit larger than what I wanted so I ended up not installing it, but that's my fault. The quality is solid - looks like a nice panel and I'm sure it would do the job. The color is 'true white' as expected. I installed panels behind my washing machine, bathroom sink, and dishwasher in my old condo and I'm the process of adding them wherever I can in my new home (for water shut-off vaves). I really like these for shut-offs! For being able to get to the shut-off quickly ---such as in the case of a leak---having a panel is just a great way to add shut-offs behind the wall and keep things looking nice!

This 12x12 inch white plastic access door with hinged access makes getting at cables/plumbing/shutoffs/etc so much easier. The access door is a smooth bright white surface with the door being attached with plastic hinges and is in perfect condition without any cracks or blemishes (see photo attached to this review for reference). You will want to note that this access door is to blend in with the wall it is attached to, so there is not a knob to open this door with. Instead there are two slots that you can gently pry open with a screwdriver to open the door.

The plumbing to the bathroom tub sprung a leak and the only way to access it was to cut into the drywall in the adjoining room. Installing this panel now allows us access to the plumbing without having to damage the drywall in that room again. Installing it was easy and you can paint it to match the wall color. The hinges are sturdy and it latches securely so you kids or pets can't easily open it.

This 12 x 12 inch plumbing access panel is a simple and effective way to create a clean service opening in a wall. Installation itself is easy, mark, cut and glue. The real work is cutting the opening in the wall square accurately, fortunately this access panel has a 1 inch trim area on each side so it is easy to cover uneven second cuts and breaks. Once installed, it provides convenient access for routine maintenance without leaving an exposed hole in the wall. The hinged door opens easily and the snap latch holds it closed securely, but it’s still quick to open when access is needed by gently prying in the notches with a plastic scraper or trim tool (don’t use metal as it is soft PVC). I installed mine through two layers of paneling (about 1/2 inch total thickness) and it worked well with no issues fitting the opening or gluing on. I did use a couple small screws with the holes inside the frame to hold it tight to the back of the paneling while the glue dried, then removed the screws. Once installed it sits flat on the wall surface protruding about 3/16 an inch and looks clean. The panel is made from PVC, which should hold up well in damp areas like my bathroom behind the shower valve; without fear of warping or cracking. PVC usually isn’t the best material for painting without special preparation, but the factory white is bright and similar to standard white trim, so stands on its own nicely without needing to be painted for my ascetic. The surface is textured so it won’t show fingerprints or small scratches easily. Overall this is a practical solution for accessing plumbing, electrical, or HVAC connections while keeping the wall looking finished; without the time and skill needed to make a big wall patch from wallboard, sheetrock or paneling.

Works, but I would have liked to see spring loaded flaps as an option to attach this door. then you could cut out the sheetrock and insert the door, and be done. This door is set up to have a wood frame to screw into boxing in the cut out. With that change I would give it a 5 star rating, and even as it is, if I could give 4- 1/2 stars I would. It opens and closes okay, and is made of decent plastic. The only thing I don't like is that design to screw into a hole that is framed out with wood etc. They could make it so both options were there.

This is a great access panel. I like the matte finish that lends itself to paint easily. I like the work size which is great for bathtub/shower access. This is small enough to have hidden under a sink and it's small enough that you really can overlook it on a wall once painted. The cut out size is 11 3/4" X 11 3/4" with an outside edge of 13 3/4" X 13 3/4", so you have an inch of wiggle room on each side. It's easy to install with a good bead of caulk. I just use painter's caulk because it's cheap and works well then secure it with a couple small clamps. You could use clothes pins to hold it if you lack clamps. The door in hinged which is much better than spring loaded. It has two closing tabs that secure it top to bottom. There's nothing not to like about them. This is a great price on an access panel large enough to work in.

I ordered the RAKFIX Plastic 12 x 12-Inch Plumbing Access Panel for Drywall to provide access to shower valve plumbing. I wanted something lightweight that could be painted to match the wall, and this panel was a great fit. It is very easy to install using construction adhesive around the edge; the flange is wide enough that you don't need a perfect cutout in the drywall. It is also light enough that screws and additional bracing are not required. There were no sharp edges, the white finish was blemish-free, and the door stays closed securely. Overall, I am very happy with it, and it was a great deal at $13.99 for this size.
