The 18" lawn aerator arrived quickly, was packaged as best as it could be, and undamaged. The aerator is a solid piece of equipment. The spikes are sharp and had to be covered with cardboard cubes. The box holding all the pieces had holes in it but all the parts were accounted for upon arrival. Yes, it comes in pieces and you have to put it together. It might be easier if you had help. You have to be very careful or you could impale yourself. I gave this a 4 because the directions are HORRIBLE. I took it over to a friend's house to help and he couldn't figure it out until it dawned on me but I'll let you know so you won't be frustrated like I was. I'm not mechanically inclined so that might be the problem. When you attach the handle holder to the spiked barrel, the bolt head should be on the INSIDE of the barrel end with the nut side on the exterior of the barrel. Other wise, the aerator is a durable piece of lawn equipment. Good exercise pushing it. All pieces constructed of heavy duty thick metal.

I recently used the 18” lawn aerator with the 50” metal handle, and overall it’s a solid tool for basic lawn care. The handle is a good length, which makes it easier to use without constantly bending over, and the metal construction feels sturdy enough for regular yard work. It does a good job helping loosen compacted soil so water and nutrients can reach the roots better. I have a lot of 'bald areas' in my front yard whereas my backyard is extremely thick. The aerator head covers a decent width, which helps get the job done a little faster than smaller tools. It works especially well in areas where the soil isn’t extremely hard or dry. If the ground is a bit damp, it penetrates the soil much more easily. It does take a little physical effort, as expected with a manual aerator, but that’s pretty typical for this type of tool. Overall, it’s a durable and practical option for anyone who prefers a simple, manual way to aerate their lawn and improve soil health, and not to mention it's affordability!
